Hill and Jordan weren’t restructured (71 Viewers)

Sometimes paying certain franchise favorites for things they’ve done in the past isn’t a horrible plan. (See Pujols offer from Cardinals after 2011)

But paying older players for things they did for other teams is usually a poor move. (See Angels contract with Pujols)

At least your own guys are still players people are paying to see. Are selling jerseys, have advertising value, etc. Treating your heroes well is good for business.

Plus….Khai Harley is good at his job. I think everyone forgets this.

I find this interesting. Anyone know anything?

I know that Underhill said they are still working on something with Cam so I would think something gets done soon. Haven't heard anything about Hill, but I would bet something gets done with him to.

What I find interesting is that Cam obviously wants to stay here, but he also wants to add more sacks to solidify his shot at the HoF. So, he has to figure out where Staley plans to use him in his scheme to make sure he will get the number of pass rushing snaps that he wants.

Both of those contracts need to see their natural end and fall off the books whether it be through keeping to expiration or cutting & eating it. No more restructuring if you don't need to.

I doubt there are any plans to do the convert salary to bonus thing. They are in the last year of their contracts so you can't anyway unless you add void year which I also think they won't do. I think the plan for both would be a pay cut much like what they did with Mathieu.

Cam already has enough void years left on his deal for a standard restructure so no add is needed. The Saints can at anytime this year inform the league they are converting salary to signing bonus without going through Cam for permission.

Didn't know about the void years, but I did know that they can convert salary to bonus without permission. It's clause 6 I believe in every player contract the Saints sign.

Anyway, based on what Underhill said, they aren't looking to do the standard restructure with Cam, they are looking for him to take a pay cut. And it sounds like he is willing to do it, but he wants to make sure that he will get the pass rushing snaps he wants in the new scheme. He doesn't want to be moved inside on obvious pass rushing downs the way DA did with him last year.

You have no reason to worry about that. The man has basically vowed to play his whole career with one team, as an ode to his father, who did the same.

He’d retire before putting on another uniform at this stage.
I don’t think this is true. There were reports that he asked for a trade last season before DA was fired.

I sure hope so. He’s stated that he wants to play another season and is going to play another season; that he hopes it’s New Orleans…I was afraid the team would cut him:
I want him to have a better final season. He was really energized after DA was fired. Seeing him so upset after the Panthers loss was disheartening.
💯 agree.

He’s also stated that he’s going to play next season he just didn’t know where that would be, meaning he didn’t know if the team would bring him back.

I’m pretty sure it’s a mandatory clause in all player contracts.

Thank goodness he’s willing, hopeful they will acquiesce to his pass rushing requests. My favorite Saints player and it’s not even close.

Also fully believe he can get 8-10 sacks this final season. Fully.
