With a coach on the hot seat I'm not sure this is a place a top OC wants to go to. There is risk that or say good chance Allen gets fired next year and if you hire an Offensive head coach next year you could very well be a one and done OC or at least have the play calling taken away from you. Why not hire Curry. Hopefully Allen gets fired and we can go after Ben Johnson. Hopefully Dan Campbell puts in a good word about the Saints and he chooses to be head coach of the Saints.

I understand everyone want's DA fired. But if that were really on the radar, the Saints should have just fired him this year. He's going to be the HC this year, and he's going to be the HC next year. I think he gets at least as long as Haslett - 5 years, as long as Loomis is GM.

Either accept it and enjoy the wins when they come, or go do something else.

Ain’t no way Allen gets five years like Hasslett.
Hasslett was still living off the 2000 season his entire career as Saints HC.
Allen has nothing.

Same GM. Loomis likes DA. So don't count on it unless the wheels fall off. But as long as they are competing for a playoff spot at the end of the year, DA's the HC.

I sadly think you’re right. Maybe when we get destroyed next year Loomis will consider it. DA would have to lose the locker room and the fans (which nearly happened this year) and end with a disastrous record, which is likely given his track record.

If we somehow limp towards something nearing .500 I’m convinced Loomis will say we were just a couple players away or some such drivel and run it back. Depressing stuff.

Haslett won the divison and a playoff game in year 1. Haslett was also not the beneficiary of a winning culture and he had not already failed miserably at a previous HC job. If Allen fails this year, he is gone. Even if that means trying to sell another HC Derek or David Carr.

I just have a hard time hoping the Saints lose just to get a coach fired. Yeah he may not be my cup of tea for a head coach, but to hope my team that I've rooted for for 43 years to lose is just against what I'm about. I hope we win. And if we win then everything will work out. It's just unbelievable that Saints fans would hope we would lose just to get rid of someone. Wow!

Somehow it feels like DA is living off Payton era.

If DA fails this year, I think he is gone. But, if they have a solid draft/free agency and they get a good OC, this team is likely to win 9 or 10 games next year, or more if the OC is amazing, and make the playoffs. If that happens, DA is going nowhere.

There is a chance the OC hire goes bad and DA loses the locker room for good, but I really think it's going to take that happening and resulting in a 5 to 8 win season for Loomis to fire DA. I don't like it, but I think that's the situation we are in.

And, since we are in that position, I'm just going to hope that the best things happen and DA somehow learns to be a good NFL head coach. Despite the fact that I don't think that's going to happen either.

I think it's more like the fans are stuck in the Payton era.

With the exception of Payton and Mora, the Saints have historically been a terrible team.

We don’t have to put every thought in our head into a thread
Especially if it’s something many many others have already put in other threads

I kind of agree. I want him gone so bad but I am trying to come to terms with the next few years. Loomis loves him and is giving him a LOT of rope. I think he gets 5 years, also. If he was on the hot seat he would be gone already. How much more incompetence would the front office need to see??? They view him as the next long term Sean Payton-like coach. No idea why.
