I really believe we need to seriously consider taking anything of value pick wise for any players of value before the trade deadline. That’s the only way to get a jump start on this cap hell we are in. May have to consider playing all of next year with a roster of players at league minimum and Derek Carr. There are a few pieces to build around but i would suggest with the draft pick acquired from the trades to start with building the offensive and defensive lines. Once those spots are shored up then move to the skill positions and then in two years when we can move on from Carr we can go with Rattler or Haener, and once we have the core set draft a QB in 27 who can sit for a year while the core gets another year under their belt. At this point you would have one of the youngest teams in the league and should have cap space frees up Under no circumstances should we trade away any picks.

Go down to go up might work for historically bad franchises like Cleveland. We've had recent success and regular post season exposure. The fan base won't tolerate a return to the past of hopelessly wasted seasons.
The team needs to figure out a way to be competitive while rebuilding or they risk losing the city. The franchise as a winner is too valuable to risk tanking season after season. I doubt Mrs Benson or the franchise leadership would allow that outcome without making other considerations first (like selling).

I can't agree. We have a good roster with good upside. Yes, we have a few bloated contract scenarios that need to be addressed asap like Carr, Cam, Latt, Davis, Ramczyk, Honeybadger.

But we also have a load of bright spots with reasonable contracts. Werner, Bresee, Adebo, Haener, Rattler, Shaheed, Means, Moreau, Johnson, Fuaga, Penning, Granderson, Gay, Kool-aid, Alontae Taylor. These are all guys you can continue to build with. The only exception is if a new head coach comes and completely changes the defensive scheme and some of the forementioned names can't fit that scheme. Or the Oline changes scheme and they're not a fit either. And in those scenarios, you just let the contract expire.

I agree, but we're pretty bad this year and I dont see how we could be too much better next year without some amazingly fortunate draft and free agent finds along with us somehow staying uncharacteristically healthy the full season.

I'll never want to tank, but sometimes when a team finishes 4-13, its not tanking. This is starting to look like one of those seasons. So maybe we reap the benefits of poor records for the next couple years and have some good drafts and clean up the budget while we're at it?
