Now that the FA wr pool is getting less attractive by the day I don’t see anyone out there I would rather have then cooks .

I would imagine we can get him for a 3rd or 4th round pick easily .

Guy has been incredibly consistent everywhere he goes .

Didn’t Cooks want out of New Orleans because of Michael Thomas? Do you think he would willingly come here to play second fiddle to him again?
I was thinking the same thing. But maybe the offense is different this time around.

He had almost 1200 yards and almost double digit TDs when paired with MT. I doubt MT was the problem. Brees lack of arm strength to hit him in stride was the issue.

We knew Brees never had good arm strength but he made it work with Devery & Meachem. If I recall I think Cooks was upset and wanted out. I think the reason is because there were a lot of designed plays where Cooks would run ghost routes and MT gets the ball. I say maybe the offense is different this time around and Cooks will be happy...if he decides to come here.

They weren't ghost routes, they were reads by Drew Brees. If the corners are in coverage and the safety is over the top, you don't throw the deep ball, you throw to the middle of the field where there is a hole in the zone. Brees could still make those throws in 2016, Cooks was mad he wasn't getting the ball enough. He still had like 117 targets. But CGM and Willie Snead also both had over 100 targets. Plus Fleener got 80.

He doesn't like to share the ball.

He is a me first guy.

Brees' arm was adequate up until '16 - '17 dependent on your definition of adequate...then the wheels fell off. We knew it, CSP knew it, that's why Mahomes was the pick in '17 until we got undercut. With Brees' limitation and Cooks wanting a payday soon, it became a smart move to move a guy you really had no use for while he had value.

With a QB like Winston who can really go deep, this would be a good move. Hopefully he has matured a bit.

I hope not. Has he ever broken a tackle? His numbers look OK but his average per catch is very low. We can do better for less.
