Alright, this is a hypothetical.

Let's say right now as of today, I have a crystal ball and have the ability to look into the future at one college football game played in 2009.

I decide to look at LSU @ Florida, and can tell you that LSU wins the game.

Knowing this, would you predict, right now, that LSU plays in the national championship?

I said yes, but they would probably have to beat them twice (SEC Champ).

Assuming that you're talking about the regular season matchup?

No. I don't like the odds of beating UF twice in one year which they would have to do. I don't mind losing the regular season game as long as LSU doesn't lose anymore games.

Before I answer the poll- SEC Championship Game or regular season?

I'm of the opinion that whoever wins the SECCG is a shoe-in for the title game if they one loss or less. So, if LSU beat Florida and lost one along the way, they'd still have a pretty good shot at getting to play Florida again, assuming they beat Ole Miss OR Alabama and lose the other. Then, assuming Florida gets through, you're looking at, essentially, a national semi-final game in the SECCG, and the first game is nearly meaningless.

I say no because we still have Ole Miss and Bama on the plate and at this point, I'm not ready to anoint our QB or our supposedly fixed defense.

Since you clarified as the regular season game then I say no. Too much else to get through to still make it from there.

I said yes, only if its the SECCG that they win. Whoever comes out as the SEC champ is probably gonna be playing in the BCSNCG.

No, because I think that LSU loses to Bama later in the year. Then Bama loses to Florida in SECCG (again). 1-loss Florida goes on to play UT or USC in the BCS National Championship.

Shame on you LSU fans who voted no. I don't believe you're a true fan unless you truly believe your team is going to win the championship every year, like the Saints will.

Even if LSU somehow beats Florida, I highly doubt any one team could beat the Gators twice in one year, which would mean LSU looses the SECCG.....

That just makes you a homer.

Are the Saints going to beat the Eagles or Patriots this year?

I hope you think so but I'm willing to bet the rest of the league doesn't. Does that make me a homer or a fan that believes in his team?

Homer. I WANT the Saints and LSU to win every game they play, but do I think they will? No. I try to be somewhat objective in my expectations and my analysis of my favorite teams. Otherwise I'm no better than a Cowboy fan and that I will not abide.

Thats not what you said. You said "I don't believe you're a true fan unless you truly believe your team is going to win the championship every year." So, yes, I think the Saints will beat the Eagles (the Pats? That'll be quite a match-up, to say the least) and I hope they win the Super Bowl but I certainly don't believe that they will every year.

I'm also a huge Rice fan, but that doesn't mean I have delusions of Rice going undefeated and crashing the BCS :smilielol: Sure, I'd like it... but wishing doesn't make it so.

Anyway, I don't mind fans having team-colored glasses. It comes with the sports territory, so don't think I'm ragging on you (too harshly :mwink:)
