Alright, this is a hypothetical.

Let's say right now as of today, I have a crystal ball and have the ability to look into the future at one college football game played in 2009.

I decide to look at Texas vs. OU, and can tell you that Texas wins the game.

Knowing this, would you predict, right now, that Texas plays in the national championship?

It didn't work last year ... However, I think if Texas had beat Oklahoma by 10 in late November Texas would have played in the NC.

IMO, Texas's biggest challenge this year is going to be maintaining rank in the last five weeks. Texas won't play any ranked teams in November, and as far as the Big 12 title game the best the North has doesn't command much respect. So, I wouldn't be shocked if Texas gets past both OU and OSU in October and slips in the polls even after winning throughout November if the wins are by modest margins.

That said, I still think Texas goes to the NC.

My take- a one-loss Texas-OU winner will be in the National Championship IF Ohio State loses a game. If OSU goes undefeated and a one-loss team comes out of the SEC, fair or not, the SEC would get the nod, I think. So a lot of this depends on what OSU does (if USC wins that game, I think they'd lose one in the Pac-10 anyway as deep as it is, but same situation for them as well).

That said, I think whoever wins that game, OU or Texas, they will be in the big one, barring a very weird scenario. Heck, I think they'll go undefeated.

Yeah. I'm just operating under the assumption that Texas will have to go undefeated this year.

A one loss SEC champ will get in.
And if either USC or tOSU goes undefeated, they'll get in over a one-loss Big XII team, fair or not.

Yes. If UT beats OU, and right now I think they have a very good chance, then UT will practically waltz into the BCS Championship game. UT-Florida sounds VERY enticing.

I feel that even the winner of OU vs UT slip up and loose either the BIG12 CG or another conference foe....

I doubt either would lose the Big 12 game. Too much on the line for either coach to choke. Well, I forgot we're talking about Stoops.

Okay, amended to "I doubt Texas would lose the Big 12 game". Better chance that UT drops the game to Okie State in Stillwater.
