When I first moved into my house I had wonderful neighbors. On the left hand side was this old lady and her granddaughter. They puttered around their yard, it was always beautiful and they had no dogs. My other neighbor was the nicest guy in the world, kept up his yard and we got along great.

Both are gone. On the one side I have two pit bulls and I assume about three glorious examples of white trash renting the place. Yard full of weeds and now I have clover back in mine. The other side has these two very large people that do nothing, wait til the city tags them for letting their grass get to long, lately I have just been mowing it when I mow mine. Their dang german shepard barks and growls all day and night long.

grrrr

You should have never mowed their grass. They will never mow again.

Have you approached either of your neighbors to let them know your concerns? It may not help, but at least give it a shot.

LOL, he sounds like someone who is into everyone elses business and expects everyone else to be like him. If I had a neighbor approach me and tell me what to do on my own property he would regret it.

My advice is mind your own business because it's not your property and not your right to say anything at all.

Maybe he'll get lucky and have someone more "neighborly".

Whoa. Doesn't sound to me like Dave was asking for suggestions -- he was venting. UK offered some, that's cool, but I don't think Dave needs to be told to mine his own business. I'd be frustrated, too, and I bet most people here would be as well.

i generally dislike the HOA.. but in this case.. they would be getting a little informant..

they can have the grass cut, and then get the money back in liens on the property.

Do you expect anything less from a bears fan?? seriously!

I didn't respond to Dave. Dave posted on a forum which are typically used to elicit response. The post sounded pretty judgemental to me. I just responded to the individual that mentioned Dave discussing things with his neighbor and thought this may not be the best idea. I wouldn't take things so kindly if I had someone walk up to me and tell me how to run my ship.

I took the suggestion to mean that he could go to the neighbors and politely approach them to discuss the issue rationally, hoping to come to a solution. You can do that without making demands or telling someone to go to hell.

LOL, tell your neighbors to lose some weight, cut the grass, kill the weeds. These are obviously people who don't really care about the property. Do you think they would care about Dave's opinion?

Yep. And you offered a response and then I did.

Fair enough.

Of course not. But is it out of line for him to try? I don't think so.

I pretty much agree. If they don't care enough about their property as it relates to being good neighbors, they probably don't care about the opinions of their neighbor.
