If Aaron Rodgers had to hit the open market, which teams do you think would be interested? (1 Viewer)

A few teams that come to mind for me would be Denver and Jacksonville. Also, I think Jerry Jones would get rid of Dak Prescott with the quickness if Rodgers hit the market after this season.

Virtually every team would be interested if he hit the open market. A better debate would be what teams wouldn't have interest.

Hopefully New Orleans. We’ve already mastered the paradigm of carrying a high dollar QB while keeping other positions young, talented and cheap.

Mastered the paradigm? I wouldn't go that far. We have had three consecutive 7-9 seasons.

What?? I feel like Snow White and I just woke up. We were 7-9 last year. Damn I had much sweeter dreams than that!! Thought we just missed the NFC Championship game by a few seconds..

well obviously Rodgers would decide were he goes more than who wants him....

Houston, Arizona would be my top choice - if QBs were to retire Pittsburgh, New England, New Orleans would be my wish list....

Who would want him? All 32 teams.
Who would pursue him? Whoever could afford him.
Who would get him? Whoever could afford him the most.

You gotta think GB would tag him if a deal couldn't be worked out. And then tag him again the next year if there's still no deal.

One of two things would happen -

He would ever carefully pick the team he wanted to go to, one that already has pieces in place of a good offense that is desperate for a QB. This is pretty much how Peyton Manning chose his destination after the Colts kicked him to the curb. There's a couple teams right now who do have descent pieces on offense who could be just a good QB away from a title run. My money would be on Jacksonville though. They finished with the #6th ranked offense despite having Blake Bortles at QB. Jacksonville makes the SB if they hold on just a little longer against the Pats.

Or he decides to get paid a ridiculous contract and some team throws the bank at him and is then handcuffed to the contract and unable to build around him. This could be any team from the likes of Washington all the way to Cleveland.

I would not want Rodgers over Brees if it were possible.

Outside of his TD/INT ratio which gets brought up all the time, Rodgers don't really have anything else over Brees statistically. Brees has far more comeback wins, yardage, and has done more with less than Rodgers and all while playing in the toughest division in the NFC.

I've felt for years that the Packers have had it made playing in the NFC North which usually is a mediocre division with 3 teams they can beat up against, similar to how the Colts used to dominant the AFC South back in the day. GB made the playoffs in 2016 at 10-6 relying off half of those wins from their divisional opponents. In 2015 they barely went 10-6 that year too. Put Green Bay in the NFC South or another tough division and they'd be an average team.

Brees is older and has aged better than Rodgers so far. We have the makings of an offense that can carry Brees in his older years without asking him to throw 40-50 passes a game. On the other hand, with Rodgers' injury history, no one really has any idea how he's going to age in the future. He's already peaked as a QB and his production started to go down a few years ago.
