1. The coaching staff makes a painful yet productive decision to move off of Trevor Penning and to “ acquire “ a competent RT. Trevor is many times worse now than when he showed up knowing nothing about our organization. His nasty mauler persona has evaporated and all that is left on film is a scared weak lost unbalanced uncoordinated gun shy player. We broke him and that sucks , but we’ll break Carr too if we do nothing about it sooner than later. This offense hinges on the ability to run the ball outside which is heavily dependent on the tackles. Carrs protection , Alvin’s production , it all hangs in the balance.

2. Alvin Kamara is an MVP candidate. Woah there , cool your britches there bubba! No I won’t and I refuse to believe that CMC is just blatantly superior to AK41. They are interchangeably the same player given the same situations. CMC has been the beneficiary of a team more dependent on him and a change of scenery. Alvin has had the likes of Penning and worse blocking for him. If we put an adequate line in front of him , we will surge offensively.

3. No.1 Defense. Here is one of the more realistic things we can expect to play out. Our defense is a perennial powerhouse. I can see this defensive line taking giant steps ahead with the addition of Chase Young. Breesee looks ready to take a leap forward. I believe Cam playing interior will help stabilize the consistency of pressure we seem to at times lack. Demario to me is the best in the business. ( I have my little league linebackers watch his all 22 film religiously). The back end is elite , if the front brings the fight , we may very well field the best defense in the league. And all bets are off when teams with Elite defenses enter the chat. Eli , Big Ben , Peyton Manning , Trent Dilfer , heck even Tom Brady have had some shaky seasons that ended with them holding the Lombardi because of those elite defenses. I think Carr can too.

4. The offense … works ? 🤨
Yeah you know the one that’s supposed to play to Carrs strengths? Revitalize Alvin’s Career , compliment our stingy defense. Yeah that one. Now I’m not saying this is a 30 points a game situation , but they will be capable of keeping the ball away from opponents, and choking out the clock. Sweet spot around 26 ?

5. Dennis Allen develops some kind of moxie. I think it’s in him , he just lets the professionalism of the job make him a bit , stiff. I say this with all good intentions, he comes off a bit of an ice hole , which I like. Some of my favorite coaches were butt crevasses , but he’s gotta embrace the inner villain. Stop apologizing for ending a falcons regime , stop babying Carrs emotions. Embrace the inner idgaf attitude. The players will come around to it.and it eventually becomes the culture and identity to this team. The bad boy Saints. I love it.

...so for ALL of that to happen you created a post to translate into you don't believe the Saints will make the SB. Got it. but can they win the NFCS as currently constructed??

Landon Young is more than competent enough if you have to move off Trevor.

AK probably won't be up for MVP but I can see a world where (QB) Carr is in the mentions.

Defense doesn't have to be #1 they were SB good enough last season had the offense not started so slow!

Can we please stop the DA moxie blah blah talk. DA does not play football. These games are decided by the players on the field once that ball is snapped.

We will have to do with what we have at RT, as of now. Whatever or whoever that is.

I tend to agree that the recipe for winning a superbowl is....
  • Some Excellence
  • A lot of Good.
  • And the rest just coming together.
The 06 Colts for instance won a Superbowl with Jason David as their starting corner and in my rankings of the bottom 5 DB units (from among SB champs) I did not even add the Colts.

You can find SB champs with weaker units at every position group. Some have weaker QBs, some with moderate OLines, some that have a whole unit of predominantly unknown DLineman.

However with Superbowl Coaches there seems to be a sort of chicken-egg thing going on. If you coach a Superbowl Champion you are a good coach - perhaps that is just the status you get if you win or perhaps that is the status some coaches wont get recognized with until they do.
