OK well 1st let me say its nice to be back online after 2 months worth of moving and being homeless... ect...

We obviously need to upgrade at the #2 CB spot... who is the standout this year in college and what position(s) are deep this year??Not to be a downer but lets say we pick 15th - 18th position.. who might we be looking at in these slots??

Hey I agree completely......Usama Young has shown flashes of potential in his limited playing time, and will be good for depth and/or nickel situations. Jason David must go! I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but I don't see the playoffs this year and even If we do a first round exit. The Defense needs a MAJOR overhaul!

Once Young is recovered I'd like to see him thrown into the fire for the rest of the year. What's the worst case?

CB is going to be really deep this year, if some juniors declare.

Personally, if we had a shot at this guy named Kenny Phillips (FS, Miami). We should take him or at least trade up.

He is 6'2 and weighs 210 pounds.Has the speed/playmaking/ballhawk skills like of Ed Reed. He's a big hitter and has the size of Sean Taylor. Can cover ANYONE.

Basically this guy is Ed Reed/Sean Taylor all in ONE. Except this guy has smarts and CHARACTER.

He would cure our ills in the secondary in a big way.

I pray to god we can get Phillips. If not we need to go DT. Our middle passrush is nonexistent.

LB is so deep this year it can wait until rounds 2-4.

Downer? If we picked at 15 thru 18, that would be a downer. I was hoping that we at least pick in the top 10. Look, we are not going to the play-offs with this defense the way it is now. We need to focus on 2008. It doesn't matter if you finish 9-7 or 7-9 if you don't go to the play-offs. I know the coach can't and won't give up on the season, but I would strongly consider playing the young guys on the team.

I would like to see what Young can do also but we need another corner! MM is getting old, David must go and Craft is a nickle guy...
South Florida has two good corners that we maybe able to get in the 2nd round Trae Williams and/or Mike Jenkins. They are quailty man to man cover guys...
1st round I would like to see a linebacker picked Dan Conner out of Penn State would be huge if he fell to around 10th-15th (wishful thinking)!

11/19/07 - Junior S Kenny Phillips said after the game he might have a torn tendon in his ankle. He played through the injury and had seven tackles.

11/13/07 - 2008 Underclassmen to Watch: Characterized by the Miami coaching staff as having "the body of Sean Taylor and the knowledge and speed of Ed Reed," Phillips has proven himself a superstar since emerging as a Freshman All-American in 2005. Despite missing three games as a sophomore, Phillips was voted Second Team All-ACC. While his play has been a little bit inconsistent this season, Phillips, should he elect to leave school early, would be the top-ranked free safety in the draft. - The SportsXchange

Can't pick a guy with the first pick with a torn tendon.

Tracy Porter might be a good CB in the 2nd round.
