It's the Saints’ ownership..... (2 Viewers)

It’s not ownership. Gayle has never once tried to clamp down on our spending or salary cap hell. Neither has our GM. We have talented players and have had talented players for a good while now. The problem is leadership.
I think that is the problem he is talking about. The owner seems absent if the people below her are running amuck. Sweet lady, though.

"THE PROBLEM IS LEADERSHIP", Should we not look to the owner for leadership?

Well, there’s a good and bad side to Gayle. The good is that she is hands off. No one likes a Jerry Jones or David Tepper trying to make open decisions.
The bad is that she is too hands off and trusting of those she has in charge. However, I would never fault Gayle if she ever wanted to “pinch pennies” bc she’s not wealthy like some of those other owners. So I’m glad that she lets us have some leeway with how much we spend trying to build a winning formula. Personally, I’d like to see ML step aside and go on to an advisory role. Let Khai or Ireland be the GM. I am starting to lose faith in ML though. That gum smacking HOF HC jargon was borderline insanity

What has Ireland done to make you think he should be the GM? One great draft in 2017?

Loomis isn't the problem. He does what is necessary to give the coaches they players they want and the scouting department provides the info used to come to consensus on picks. The problem is at the level of talent evaluation and that's Ireland and the Scouts. Hopefully adding Mueller will help, but I think they need to revamp the entire college scouting department including Ireland.

The current problem is we have mediocre players with a mediocre coach.

She's doing what an owner is supposed to do. Hiring people to run the team and letting them do it. Frankly, Dennis Lauscha has more to do with running the team than Gayle. Loomis answers to Lauscha.

and then you can work down from there relative to trying to re-build the organization, which in my opinion needs a drastic makeover if you will.

Even if the ownership were the problem, nothing can be done about that that would not result in the team moving. We are lucky to have Gayle because if she wanted to she could make billions of dollars by selling this team instead of keeping it in a small market like New Orleans.

You really think with the talent we have we are better coaching away from being a contender?

Oh come on now, three weeks ago you and many others were ready to buy SB tickets. How quickly you guys change and throw in the towel. I don’t believe the owner had anything to do with McCoy’s injury because despite what many may believe that injury alone changed the entire complexion of the 2024 season.

Well, the current ownership is well-respected around the league.
And that’s not exactly one you can change - unless you want the Saints in another geographical location.

I do. There are a few holes, particularly a lack of depth, but the starting talent, when healthy is good enough imo. The first 2 games were clear evidence of that. The problem we have is we can't have injuries. We don't have sufficient depth at key positions.
