Jake Haener posts picture of Gruden visiting Saints players on day before final game (merged) (5 Viewers)

Lots of teeth in that pic. The dude just brings it. I don’t think he’ll be our next coach, but if he were, we would at least be interesting in these mega lean years to come.
When it's another guys team. He's one of the most overrated coaches in history.

Yea I don’t buy that at all. Ive seen coaches lose with great rosters. Gruden built a SB team in Oak, then played against it and won a Super Bowl. And when he went back to the Raiders, they were winning, 3-2 (then he had to resign) but they still made the playoffs, because of the culture he left behind. The Saints are about as interesting as shredded wheat, nationally. (Not even frosted) Chucky is from the same cloth as Sean Payton and Andy Reid. And he’s available. As far as the name calling, emails, I don’t care. I was all in on Watson, I only care about the Saints getting back to competing at a high level.

Can kinda mean that he’s trying to weasel his way back into coaching. What better team, than a potential desperate franchise, that has ties to us.
He could've had the OC job if he had wanted it. Then he would've probably been promoted to interim when Allen was fired. I think that ship has sailed.

I posted this in a past Chucky thread, but for the fantasy football league I run, I paid for Chucky to do a Cameo video to show before our draft, and he crushed it! Super funny, self-deprecating, called himself a member of the "Fired Football Coaches of America," talked about each of my guys as if he knew them, invited us all over to his house (jokingly) if we ever made it to the Tampa area, said all this fantasy football talk and draft order selection was starting to get HIM fired up for the season, all kinds of fun. Went above and beyond what I thought he would do. Just based on that, I would not hate it if he was our coach :)

If you think about it…. He’s like one of maybe 2 guys available to us as a HC - the other being Vrabel - That wouldn’t be a complete Yes Man / Status Quo hire to Loomis…. I.e a continuation of the shirt show.

As long as Loomis is GM…. I’m for any HC that’s not a push over

Gruden is not a push over

Of all the HCs names mentioned I like Chucky the best, unless we get a new GM.
Someone who knows football is needed to stand up to Loomis.
No offense to Loomis and Lauscha but they are finance guys and the Saints can't compete without a HC with a backbone

The Fired Football Coaches of America (FFCA) is an actual thing he started. He even rented office space where fired coaches could come to review film, discuss football, etc.

I don’t think that was the case. I’m not sure that ML would have hired a former HC, who had coached DC4 before, while being a man that DA would possibly “look over his shoulder” in case if he failed. That would be a lot of added pressure on DA. When he was terrible with pressure situations anyway. As far as I could see, Jon was to only be a consultant of sort, to help get the most out of DC4. Nothing more

Maybe not. But I have read where it was his if he had wanted it. But we can take what we read about sports with a grain of salt.
