I’ve heard some people say here might have been a character problem (with him). I wouldn't say he had a character problem. I didn't feel like there was anything off the field with A.T. There just may be some young and immature time in his career where he wasn't maybe as punctual and wasn't working as hard as he probably should early in his career. And that may have addressed why he was there late in the draft because his ability, in our opinion, was higher than where he was taken (in the sixth round).

His take on why Perry may have dropped. Seem crazy why teams let him slide to the 6th but I'll take it.

I think that another reason could be that AT Perry just got lost in the numbers where there were too many available talented players and not enough draft spots to get them with. Just look at the Undrafted Rookie Free Agents that were available after the draft.

But it doesn't matter where these players get selected in the draft, just as long they get picked by a team.

15 receivers went off the board starting from round 3 to his draft spot in the 6th. I don't think there were 15 better prospect.l at that point. That's just my opinion though.

I've seen rumblings that beyond what Ireland touched on, AT didn't interview well because he's a quiet, thoughtful guy by nature and isn't as boisterous as people expect of a program's #1 receiver. The skills are definitely apparent and if you watch the Bootleg Football interview with him, he's incredibly cerebral.

That interview was really good for a 10-year NFL veteran let alone a college WR before the draft.

I hope we never let Jeff Ireland slip away. 🤔 🏈

:gosaints:

IMO, he is the most valuable person in the Saints building right now....
I know we want to worship Jeff Ireland, but 2018 thru 2021 werent very good drafts. Look at the mid round production of the 49ers

They weren't great drafts, but no team hits on drafts every year. One of the things to keep in mind is the roster was very strong during that period. Also it's impossible to know how good the recent drafts are (at least 20 and 21) most of the players are still on the team and growing.....

He’s also not built for special teams. Which is how a lot of rookie WRs contribute and earn roster spots before they’re ready to be full-time top 3 WRs.
