Kaiser Chiefs/ Franz Ferdinand (1 Viewer)

Anyone fans of theirs out there know we can expect an album from either of these two groups?

Big Franz fan, used to like the Kaiser Chiefs but their last album was a big drop off on the first so I'm not that into them any more. According to my copy of NME Franz Ferdinand's new album is called Tonight and recording is just over. It will be released in the new year.

The Kaiser Chiefs album, Off with their heads, is out this week and NME also carried a review of it. It was extremely unfavorable giving it 5 out of 10 and saying it is a worse version of the last album, and saying it was an album of halves, half knowing, half anthemic and lyrically halfway to hell. I haven't heard it but I heard the lead single this week on the radio and it wasn't very good. It was about kids not learning anything at school, not doing anything during the day and eating crisps for dinner. The lyrics were indeed very weird and IMHO it was terrible.

I thought The Angry Mob was great. Had catchy songs, while at the same time, some good off the wall stuff. I will probably by the new album anyway because thats just how I do it.

I don't know why people don't respect the Franz anymore. These last two albums were off the wall good so I expect this new one to just blwo my mind.

Have you listened to much of the new Arctic Monkeys album?

I agree with zorro - the Kaiser Chief's first album was one of the best of 2005, but the last one was horrid. cheesy, gay, just plain lame songs. it was actually so bad that I don't even listen to the first one any more. I suppose I'll check this one out.

I heard a song from the new Franz album today and it was good. Same old catchy guitar dance party pop. Those guys can turn out some good, fun music.

AFA the Artic Monkeys, if by new you mean last year's Favorite Worst Nightmare, yes, it's great. Looking forward to what they do next.

If you like this music, check out The Fratellis if you haven't already. Their first one was better, but the second one is good, too.

I caught the Fratellis last year. Best show I had been to up until Grizzly Bear and Radiohead in Aug.

So the new Arctic Monkeys is good, and nobody likes Kaiser enough to care when a new album will come out...how sad.

The Angry mob reminded me a lot of Les Mis.

Do you mean Favourite Worst Nightmare or the Last Shadow Puppet's Age of the Understatement (Alex Turners side project)?

Favourite Worst Nightmare is a very solid album, no way they could improve on the debut as it is as good a debut record by teenagers as you will ever find. But if you haven't listened to the Last Shadow Puppets yet I'd look out for that CD as I think it was one of the best of this year. Not at all what you'd expect, it's got a full orchestra, and is only half an hour long.
