Kellen Moore expected to be Saints coach (34 Viewers)

I think this is in very poor taste from the reporter, if I was Moore this would turn me off big time to Nola media. Like why are you out here trying to make it about that when they just won a Super Bowl. Not the time or place actually. That kind of stuff would make me reconsider if I come here or not actually. You could see his demeanour change as he grts

Very poor taste from the reporter, should be about the SB win, but all that other stuff? Nah, Kellen is a professional coach, he knows the local media is excited knowing he will be the next coach.

I'm glad we're going with someone up and coming. I did see some plays tonight that left me scratching my head; too many runs up the middle for nothing and sweeps to the short side of the field losing yardage. I hope he gets over that. You can't argue with the output though: 34 points from the offense in the Super Bowl is outstanding.

Looking at those run plays in isolation can make them seem like a mistake, but those plays don't happen in isolation. They are all part of the flow of the game and are needed to set up other plays and to make the defense have to keep defending against everything.

There's never been an NFL game in which the offense gained positive yards on every play. Even when a defense is being blown out, they occasionally win some plays.

There's a recent article or interview from one of the Eagles players stating that Moore runs things to set up other plays later. You can see those runs up the middle set up other plays later in the game. He made Hurts look like a competent passer on some plays.

So, do we have an announced date/time for a press conference? Has Moore signed a contract yet?

Honestly, after last night, I’m pretty excited to see him come to NOLA. But I’m going to be nervous about it until he’s behind the Saints podium.

Did you see that long TD pass to Smith?

That’s because of all those runs into the middle and sweeps.

Kellen Moore called that deep pass. He saw what the commitment to the run was doing to the defense.

That’s how good OCs coach.

CSP and DB9 are both on record that the Saints did that also....especially in the first 15-20 "scripted" plays. If they had game-planned well, they were either going to get chunk yards, a score, or valuable information to setup and fake with later on. Plus, it's like an earlier poster pointed out....you have to serve notice to the defense to keep defending EVERYTHING. If you abandon a part of your arsenal, even if unsuccessful, you allow the D to abandon the defense of that concept; making their job easier. It's often a war of attrition, and you've got to make them expend ALL their resources before you can have their way with them. Kinda like a cat swatting a mouse around for amusement before it gets bored and kills it.

You can't just never run to the short side of the field. If you telegraph to a defense you are only going to utilize half the field based on where you are between the hashes, you're done.

People used to complain about Payton doing that too.
