Kellen Moore expected to be Saints coach (48 Viewers)

What you and others tend to forget is it's still only 32 of these jobs available. The crappiest ran NFL teams
will always have viable candidates wanting to prove themselves. No NFL team is truly that far away.
YES, Mickey love him or hate him, he is right about the 1-32 comment. There will always be quality candidates. And it pays millions too. You just need to find the guy that is willing to build from the ground up. And that's whats going to happen if Moore is the guy.

What if the Saints are the source of these rumors as kind of a shot across the bow for the guy with a no trade clause?

We can’t “officially” offer him until after the Super Bowl, meaning there will be no official reports of an offer.

If Moore wasn’t going to be our HC though, we would have our HC named by now.
Add in the fact that it would calm Philly fans down if they knew their OC was staying. Plenty of reasons to name a HC before the SB. Plus all of the hoopla and media exposure the Saints will get, because they are the home team, it would be easier to deal with, if they had their coaching staff in order.

I like that his potential DC, Staley runs pattern match zone concepts. I think that's the way to go in the current NFL landscape

Pure zone spot dropping like what DA ran when we didn't play man tend to get eviscerated with QB's finding open spots rather easily, while pure Man schemes can be beaten w/ designed routes to get guys open (think rub routes or bunch formations to confuse) and they also tend to struggle against running QB's.

Patter match is a good mix betwen the two and allows for some flexibility. We'd instantly stop getting gashed by running QB's. That's for sure.

I like Wink Martindale but his scheme can get Rob Ryan level absurd and that's a drawback imho.

Edit: NVM...looks like Staley is being hired as Jaguars DC
edit2: NVM article headlines was as if he'd been offerend the job, its speculation on the writers part.
"It's just speculation on the writer's part" should be added to the title of all these Moore threads til after the Superbowl lol

Preface... Completely unrelated to Kellen Moore

Fun fact: people repeat over and over it is 1 of 32 jobs. While accurate... you dont always get one of the top 32 candidates. Ok.. fun fact hour is over, carry on.

Sorry to say but a lot of people on here have been made to look incredibly silly the last couple of months.

Those who incessantly defend Loomis and Carr need to face facts. Both are viewed as a hindrance and just aren’t that good at their jobs. Let’s just hope that Russini is
Nobody will know the truth until after the SB, if you want to buy into all the speculation knock yourselves out. But all these reporters have to make up stories, it's their job

Apparently the Jags hired Anthony Campanile from the Packers as their DC.

It's only been 48 hours (2 days) since the Saints interviewed Moore who was their last interview. Loomis is always deliberate and patient, hence all the "what's taking him so long" complaints.

Loomis and the hiring committee taking a few days to deliberate over all of the candidates would not be "dragging" anything out and the reason they'd be doing it is to be extremely thorough to make sure they make a good hire.

Yes I did listen to Kafka's interview. You're hearing what you want to hear. There was nothing he said or did that indicated anything about where he stands with the job.

Maybe, maybe not. Time will tell.

He may want the job, but the Saints may not have decided who they want just yet.

Notice the language reporters are using: "front runner," "driver's seat," "final decision not made yet" and all the other descriptions. None of them are as definitive as people are reading them to be.

Ever been in the passenger seat on the steep drop off side of a mountain road? That's the same kind of anxiety that a lot of fans seem to be experiencing. Not having any real information or control over the situation seems to have a lot of people white knuckling over who the Saints will or did hire.

The hiring committee doesn't have that anxiety, because they have all of the information and all of the control, so they don't feel pressured to have to rush to make or announce their decision.
I think part of that is so the Saints don't get penalized for tampering. If they announce the deal is done, then the NFL knows we tampered and finalized a deal before we were supposed to. AND, it was the Eagles that reported Az 2 years ago for doing it.

Yup. It's a shame some of us have become hesitant to post anything anymore because of so much vitriol that fills SR threads right now no matter what you post or what stance is taken is taken. It's not a place of enjoyment anymore. If you're not on one extreme side or the other, you're gonna get hate.
Who cares what people say I used to be like that around here I would proofread stuff and make sure it would offend people. Heck, now I just speak my mind and whoever doesn't like it can call me names give me clowns, falcons or whatever. I do it in real life to because life is too short to keep your mouth shut as long as it is respectful then all is good.

I think its funny that you say reporters have to "make up stories...it's their job!"
That use to be called "yellow journalism." Unfortunately now it is an common & accepted practice...

If Moore weren't taking the job, he would have said so just to end all of the rumors...
It would make it easier for him to coach in the Super Bowl.

Yep. That's about the only thing that's known. If Moore has declined the offer, the Saints would have moved on with another candidate and started getting the rest of the staff put together. It looks like Moore is their guy and he has some level of interest in the job. The rest is speculation and noise.

And I'm sure candidates would be ranked differently from team to team. So, unless you are privy to candidate rankings by team, your opinion on which candidates are ranked at the top is moot. And let's be honest, with first time head coaches, you have no idea what you are getting.

He's a straight shooter and not at all controversial. What you're hearing from him now isn't controversial either, it's just not pleasant to hear about your favorite team.
There was a time when every team could believe they had a chance to win in the off-season. Now coaches are being judged before they coach 1 game in the NFL and the same with drafted players. As a fan of a team who hasn't been doing well lately, can we go back to that?
