NFL Draft Mel Kiper has Shedeur Sanders ranked as his top QB. Liked him with the Saints [Browns draft Sanders in the 5th round #144] (3 Viewers)

Sound like a lot of teams did homework.

It’s a more advanced version of what the Raiders did with Jamarcus Russell from the sound of it.

Suspecting that Russell was not paying attention as in at all, the Raiders staff sent him home with DVDs to review.

Next day he was asked about it and he uttered something like “yeah it looked good…”

The DVDs were blank.

I just don't buy into any notion that NFL owners - most of whom paid hundreds of millions of dollars (if not over a billion dollars) for their franchise - are going to snuff maximizing their return on investment by freezing out a player that will put fans in the seats, increase ad revenue, boost merchandise sales, and increase TV revenues.

How does that work, exactly?

It's a lot easier for me to believe a reporter (whose job is NOT to report the news but to increase the ad revenue that actually pays their checks) would make stuff up by attributing sensational comments to "confidential/anonymous sources".

This tin of kipper snacks probably would have done better in this year's draft than Mel Kiper.

There are some that think their brand is bigger than the team. Sanders has the appearance of being one of those players.

I understand, but we are not talking about Patrick Mahomes...

Here's my thing.

At the beginning of the season, what did scouts tell Coach Prime and Shedeur in regards to how high his draft stock is?
Because to me, it looks like they overplayed their hands. There never was a consensus on Shedeur being a top five pick at QB.
In 2024, everyone knew that Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams was going in the top 3.
