Only 2 of those players are still talented and still productive, not including the kicker Lutz.

Thats Baun and Elliss. The rest have been mostly ineffective and disappeared on their new teams or in FA since leaving the Saints.

Players leaving in FA during Allen’s tenure doesn’t automatically mean they were losses. Most of them were the reasons why Allen teams weren’t talented enough to win games.

They contributed when they were Saints. But 6 of the 9 players on the list are rotational depth level players at best now. Onyemata and Tuttle still make plays in run defense but their production doesn’t match their big FA contracts. Moving on with Bresee and cheaper FA DT options with equal production were the right moves. Saints cap dodged huge bullets.

Allen's biggest deficiency as a defensive guy has been the misevaluation of linebacker talent. I will note, additionally, that the D line has not improved since the losses of those 3 DTs.
