Misery.

Just went and bought my girlfriend an engagement ring.. havent proposed yet, but it's going to happen soon.... i love her to death, but have always been terrified of commitment. Crazy thing is, i wasn't even nervous when i made the purchase, guess it's time to grow up and do the family thing. Been comtemplating it for awhile and i know i won't find anyone better than her, she is perfect for me in every way. Wish me luck guys, from the sounds of most on this board, i will need it! :covri:

any cool proposal ideas are welcomed!

congrats, man. My bro rented out the botanical gardens and had my sister-in-law's favorite restaurant cater. So, after a nice dinner and proposal, they got to walk in the gardens. Or just think of something she likes?

Get her to join SR, and propose to her on the BTL board, she will remember it forever!!:blink1:

My girl pretty much only likes Los Tres Amigos (local mexican) and taco bell... lol she'd rather that than at 200 dollar meal at Emirel's anyday... she's a keeper for sure!! :hihi:

If she likes stuff like that rather than fancy things, maybe a picnic would be good. Or go to the movie and when it's dark you can go for the popcorn and put the ringbox on top if it. Next handful she grabs, she gets a surprise.

congrats! It will change your life but I would not have it any other way. I love my wife and she is perfect for me and vice versa and that is what matters the most.

Congrats.

I posted a thread on here about an hour before I proposed in December of 2007. I was married in May of 2008 and on June 9 my wife and I had our first child. It's incredible the way one thing leads to another.

My only true advice to take it one day at a time. Don't worry about what you can't control or what might happen tomorrow. Take care of the moments and everything else typically takes care of itself.

The most salient advice I can give is to treat her like a regular human being.
Not better, or she'll think she's got too much to live up to.
Not worse, or she'll jump ship the first chance she gets.

Just...regular. Listen to what she says like you'd expect her to listen to you. Find out what you're each good at and do 'em. You cheer for her, she cheers for you.

That's one of the best things about marriage, there's always somebody on your side.

Have an artist paint her portrait, adding a box with a loose diamond in her hand before you present it. When you present the portrait, have the ring ready when she asks about it.

Or the classic, "Hey, let's get married!"

Congrats!

The better one (that I've actually heard of directly from the friend who had this happen to her) - just toss the ring box towards her as you walk in the door one day. Tell her, "Put this on. We gettin' married." :9:

Put it on the end of your ****! The next time she looks down there, she'll get the surprise of her life! Her jaw will drop open.
