Did anyone else watch this show? I found it extremely funny and even though it was kind of overboard the humor was as good as I have found without really crossing the line which is something that I don't find often.

Every episode was at the least entertaining and some where off the charts. Sitcoms are not really my cup of tea but now I find myself watching reruns on youtube. Even though Malcolm was the main character he was outshined by Dewey, Hal and Reese. Dewey played an unusual role being a sweet little boy with a evil twisted imagination and usually got the best laughs from me. Even though Reese was over the top in the stupid department he played the part great and his backwards logic always made for at least a good one liner or story line.

Anyways, I rarely see this show mentioned and while I like Family Guy, The Simpsons, Arrested Development and some other FOX sitcoms this one is easily my favorite. I think one of the shows big problems was at first glance it looked like a kids show or just another sitcom and people never really gave it a chance. Those that did fell in love. Like many of the FOX sitcoms it was either loved, hated or never seen but not much in the middle.

agreed - i thought it was one of the better written and directed/conceived shows that's been around
did for "family" shows what "soap" did for soap operas

I can't really explain why I never really got into Malcolm, because you are right, what I have seen is pretty funny. In all honesty, I want to say that it is the same reason I am not a huge simpson's fan and that is that it came on Sunday Nights. I never really watched tv on sunday nights unless there was a game on.

I liked the show. I think it came off at times as trying too hard. Most of the time, though, that effort paid off, and I laughed out loud.

I don't watch any TV shows on a regular basis, but I'll watch Malcolm in the Middle when I catch it on. It's a good show. Have you seen the episode with the helper monkey? I loved the lasagna part.

It isn't like the show was a huge failure and pulled off the air immediately. 7 seasons is pretty good for any sitcom and great for one with 3 kids. The careers of the kids and the story line of the kids being in school can only go on for so long before they are just too old. Here are the awards the show won:

The show really changed scenes from season to season a lot. Malcom usually had a different teacher with completely different personalities, Francis went from military school to Alaska to the Ranch. Reese moved on to High School and eventually work and Malcolm and Dewey worked their way through school.

It is not that the show wasn't a success it just never took over for FOX like it was capable of doing. Some other things I really liked about the show was NO RECORDED LAUGHTER, it wasn't extremely predictable (it was somewhat predictable but unlike other shows you had no clue what was going to happen from beginning to end) and each episode was completely different while the characters remained the same.
