Yesterday the New England Patriots cut former Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham. This wouldn’t be something to be interested in except for the fact that he showed himself to be a dual threat quarterback/wide receiver, and we have a similar player on our team, one Taysom Hill.

Cunningham is 24 years old, 6’0, and runs a 4.5 40. He was brought in as a quarterback that would be converted to a wide receiver, however the Pats didn’t know how to hep him make the conversion, so he was somewhat bound to fail initially.

I would love to bring him in and put him on the PS. By putting him on the PS the team and Taysom could help develop Malik, and get him on track before Taysom retires in 15 years.

The thing is, I know Taysom is a good enough guy where he would be happy to take on the challenge of helping coach his replacement. He is built a certain way where he wants what’s best for everyone; and helping a guy who could take up 2-3 roster spots (like himself) would give him satisfaction.

If the Saints don’t sign him I could see Sean going after him like he did I’m going after Tommy Stevens a few years back
