It was all about negotiation. The Rams obviously put something on the table, and Stafford's rep rejected it. The compromise was to let him test the market for his value. The only question is if that's higher or lower than what they offered him. A 100 mil for QB with his resume and achievements is not that much. That sounds like a 2-3 year deal, which is reasonable for his age.I was 95% certain that Stafford would remain with the Rams when the news first dropped last week. I'm 50/50 now.
From the jump you can tell it was just to see where he sat from a market standpoint. I highly doubt that he would have wanted to end up on the Giants, Jets, or Browns because he has already spent most of his career on a bad team.
