It's saying a barrier was hit, is that attached to the bridge?

They’re basically fenders designed to deflect vessels back into the channel rather than hitting the bridge. They appear to be working.

Of course they’ll have to examine the hit and the integrity of the structure - that’s a big ship - but looks like it worked as intended.

EDIT - It's actually not that big of a ship, six rows of containers. The ship in Baltimore was 3 or 4 times that.

I'm certain the owner of that yacht just off to the left is REALLY glad those fenders worked as intended.

I have never been to Antillean.

That freighter is a probably one hundredth the displacement of the vessel that hit the bridge in Baltimore and it had a tug on the stern. Bad day for that pilot. You see these little things running all through the Bahamas and Caribbean. They look like fun ships to operate.

LOL that gave me a chuckle- i just imagined the Captain on bridge, exclaiming " Man this is FUN!" just before hitting the protective bridge support fenders.

Safe bet the ship is the Sara Express with a Gross Tonnage of 2463 tons. There is a fantastic book called Freighter Captain, by Max Hard Hardberger, detailing his adventures sailing similar ships on the same run as the Sara Express. Truly entertaining non fiction.
Captain Hardberger is from Lousiana and graduated from UNO and holds a master's license, aircraft pilot's license, and law degree.
