Mike Smith says Falcons need to change playoff approach (1 Viewer)

One approach he may want to pursue is for the offense to get into the endzone. Technically, you can win by only scoring safeties, but it's rare and puts a lot of pressure on your defense to stop the other team from kicking field goals.

If the Falcons take too long they will miss their window; Matt Ryan only has a few years of mediocrity left before he's in his 30's.

Yeah I thought that too when you are down 7 points and already turned the ball over, the best thing to do is try and rack up stats in the final seconds so your quarterback can throw a pick 6 and end the game for you that quick after going 13-3 on an easy schedule and blowing home field advantage to a wild card team.

Between MIke Smith finally figuring out how to approach the playoff, and Matt Ryan actually figuring out that you have to work out hard to be in shape. So glad that's not my team, they are clueless.

Score more than 2 points, and figure out that Matty Hype is a big ball of suck.

Scoring more then 2 points in a playoff game is always a start. Word from the Falcons Janitor is they have their Kicker practicing hard. They hope to score 3 points on offense to bring their total up to 5 this year....lol

I don't see them actually getting to the playoffs this year. They got extremely lucky in 2010 having to play a very weak schedule. And last year, they barely made it as a wild card by blowing out scrubby teams (Jacksonville) yet couldn't beat a real contender (Texans)

I think that in this, as in so many things, Mike Smith is dead wrong. The Falcons playoff approach is dead-perfect.

wow, so the losing in the first round isn't working for them??, they prob won't get back to work on that, lol

Nothing to do with the coaching. I'll admit, they are a well coached team. Smith does a nice job of getting the most out of his talent. Their issue is the QB. He just can't get it done and carry a team. Simple as that.
