Jets reporter says Aaron Glenn allegedly told people the Jets are his first choice to be HC

Been saying it all along. His allegiance should be to the Jets in this scenario.

They’re the team he primarily played for and became a star with, and they’re the team he cut his “front office work” teeth with.

There are rumors that his wife likes NY so that could be a big factor. But, if he has choices, I don't know why he would choose Rodgers and Woody Johnson, other than if his wife says she wants to go to NY.

The Saints do not have a worse front office or owner. And the Jets also have coach killer, Aaron Rodgers. And, some of us like living in New Orleans. And that NY media eats coaches alive.
Sure thats fair, I was talking about my own perspective, I couldn't stand living in new orleans.

So who are these people he told this to?
Cousins, aunts, ex-teammates, ex coaches? Who
Reporters just run with things without strong info. But I understand the industry.

I could see an argument for Jacksonville, if you don't mind being stuck with Lawrence on a big contract, but the Jets? What advantage do they have that makes up for insane, washed up Aaron Rodgers and Woody Johnson?
He isn't stuck with Rodgers, his guaranteed money ran out in 2024. They are already projected to be under the cap, so they can designate him a post-June 1 cut.

They'll need to replace Rodgers, but that's easier to do in 2025 than it would have been in 2015.

They also have foundational stars at DT and CB, and he is a defensive coach.

I don’t know what started this whole “Coaching candidates are afraid of taking challenging jobs” mindset.

Was in the unique case of Ben Johnson that started this?

Reminder - these coaches are the ones doing the pursuing and interviewing; they’re ambitious and hungry, and they also like money.

It's incredible that the only owner in the league more psychotic than Jim Irsay continues to dupe people into working for him.

Yes, the Jets are in better shape from a roster and salary cap perspective. No, the Jets do not have a better FO than the Saints do. They don't even have a GM in place. Finally, I wouldn't live in or near New York for free. The mere thought makes me nauseous.

That said, the Jets are the one organization that Glenn has deeper ties to than the Saints. I can absolutely believe this story is true, and mentioned it in the McCarthy thread. If you get in front of McCarthy and he's still got the juice to endure a soft rebuild, you don't let him leave the building without a signed contract. Glenn is far from a sure thing to choose the Saints. The rest of the candidates we're involved with are more likely to bust than to succeed. McCarthy is the guy we need at this juncture.

The Jets training facility is also in New Jersey so I would bet most team employees and players live in New Jersey.
Just like most players live in Kenner, I'm sure people choose leisure in NYC, though.

Our coaching search won't really begin until the other jobs are filled. Looking like Rizzi or maybe Brady at the moment.
