He set the record for most touchbacks in a game last week against the Colts and after the opening kickoff against the Rams he has 31 touchbacks this season. The current record for touchbacks in a season is 40 held by Billy Cundiff which Morestead should shatter.

That record was bound to go down this year with the new rule. Nonetheless, he is having a great year. That 61 yard punt just now was amazing!

He calls himself that? Every man must have a flaw.

After breaking the record for most touchbacks in a game, being on pace to break the record for most touchbacks in a season, being on pace for allowing the fewest punt returns yard in a season and leading the league in net punting he can call himself whatever he likes.

And I can think its ridiculous. :9:

Don't get me wrong, because I love me some Morestead, but this was to be expected considering the ball was moved 5 yards up this year. We are seeing a lot more touchbacks throughout the entire league.

The fact that Morestead is leading the league in touchbacks, however, is a sign that he is elite. Keep it up big man.

Allow me to eat the biggest crow on this board.

Morestead now has 42 touchbacks which is now the single season record. Wonder what the tally will be after the 2nd half of the season.

Morestead is first in the NFC in net punting, 2nd in the NFL. He is 8th in the NFL in punt distance which is much less important stat than net punting. The Saints have only allowed 72 punt return yards for the entire season, easily the best in the league. Patrick Peterson has 441 punt return yards by himself.

So in the NFC we have the punter that is leading the league in net yards and punting. He is also leading the league in touchbacks off kick returns and only has 3 touchbacks (punting). He is leading the punt team with the fewest return yards in the league but he isn't getting votes for the pro bowl?
