If you want to win in the NFL and compete for super bowls. Lets look at the coaches who are getting there?

The offensive background coaches are the runaway winners in this derby.

Of, the last 4 super bowls, the winners and losers were all offensive minded coaches.

In the last 8 yrs. Other than Belichick/Brady No defensive disciplined coach has won a superbowl.
You have to go back 9 years to have a defensive coach not named Belichick, win a superbowl and have 2 defensive disciplined coaches in a super bowl. (Belichick and Carrol)

Over the last 8 yrs there have been only 4 defensive disciplined coaches even get to the superbowl. Rivera, Quinn, Carroll, Belichick.

If you were a mind to see Belichick/Brady as an outlier, because we all know it was Brady who won those games.
My findings would swing way towards an offensive disciplined coach/play caller.

Why we went with a defensive minded coach w/ a losing record in DA, I don't know. The facts are irrefutable offense wins superbowls in today's NFL. Change my mind!!!!

If the criteria is winning a Superbowl recently, then it's an offensive coach. However, I think QB and staff are critical. Not only Bill and Brady but Tomlin and Big Ben. Also, if the Bills won a ring with Allen, I don't think anyone would be surprised.

The balance of power has changed to the offensive side of the ball. The rule changes have changed the game. It used to be the defense could make QBs and WRs really suffer if they got to mouthy like Brady did with our DC. Now the defense has to take it and can't impose there will on QBs and WRs. This changed the game. Why do you think they give QB money to WRs now?

It's a business 1st and foremost. All they usually care about is being good enough to sell season tickets. After last season and willing to double down everything that was wrong 100% validates it. If they had a desire to win championships. They knew that they had to get their hands dirty and clear out the offensive staff and gamble on something new.

Although, it creates a problem that clashes with the 1st rhetoric of being good enough to sell tickets.

So, I suggest you get to the 5th stage. Acceptance. When the top brass wants change to actually compete. They will. This is the energy after a decade and half of success. They gonna cling on to this mediocrity till they have no choice but to rebuild instead of proactively trying to compete through a rebuild.

I agree with the idea of the emphasis on offense, and I'm just saying I think a great HC with the right staff and QB can get the job done. That's why I mentioned Buffalo. That said, my preference is for an offensive guy when we choose our next coach.

I know you're kidding but if that's how it works then I actually don't want any part of the NFL

Yes, I'm joking. But I could also make the argument that the Rams making it to the Super Bowl over the Saints IS how the NFL works. They even argued in court that they were the same as WWE. So don't take it too seriously because in the end, it's billionaires just playing monopoly and the integrity of the game means nothing over money.

This is what I'm working on accepting that DA will be back and Carr will be our QB for at least two more years. Saints fans will show up and party regardless of our record.
Although I don't remember hearing boos like the other night in years. Gayle is clueless and Mickey is about to retire, we're in bad shape.

Eagles and San Fran proactively went through a soft rebuild. They are better than ever because of it. It's just no matter how hard you try. You'll inevitably have to rebuild. Why not do it on your own terms? This team is too old. They act once they you get in the cellar. You may not come out of it. For a bad franchise yes. If you wait long enough. You'll be there regardless.

If this franchise believe that they are good as they are. It shouldn't be a problem. So, this narrative(peddle by Nick Underhill) that a good organization don't makes those moves is a complete lie and reeks of desperation of not having to pay people to sit at home while paying for a new staff.

So what you are saying is hiring your above average DC to be your head coach while simultaneously losing an offensive “genius” is not a good choice?

🤓

Defensive head coaches all have the same type of team. Stout defense with boring offense. You can’t win championships in this league with that formula. Sooner or later you’re going to face an offense that can score 30pts on any defense in todays game.
