Steelers waived NT Alameda Ta'amu and promoted WR David Gilreath from their practice squad.

Ta'amu is practice-squad eligible, but the Steelers may be ready to wash their hands of him. He embarrassed the franchise with an October DUI. Ta'amu was the 109th overall pick in April's draft. Gilreath is up to play special teams on Monday Night Football. He's also receiver depth with Antonio Brown out.

I know some on here thought we might draft him and were mad when we didn't and drafted Hicks. I am so glad we have Hicks cause he has shown great potential and will be a force going forward as he learns this game more.:9:

I would still put a claim on him. This may be the wake up call he needs and it's low risk.

This guy got a DUI, and embarrassed the Steeler Organization?

I wonder how a helmetless, drunkard, sexual assault Rapelisberger made them feel?

Like Champions! Yay Big Ben.

Cheesy yes, but it was good cheese. :ezbill:

Do we really need another big body up front? Serious question... Although Ellis is not playing up to his "potential" it seems as though the rest are doing pretty decent, and getting better.
Think I would rather keep the team as is, unless an injury opened up a spot

For a team that doesn't engage in too much off season activity the Steelers rely heavily on the draft to upgrade. It's makes it all the more surprising when Ta'amu was supposed to be the future at NT in that 3-4 defense. It was also said Polamolu would be his mentor because of their heritage.

There must be more to this than the DUI.

Yeah looks like he also ran forcing a chase by car then on foot.
