The Redskins defense is on pace to allow the second-most total yards in NFL history.
They're also on pace to allow the most passing yards in NFL history, though this year's Texans might beat them to the punch. The Redskins have faced Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Michael Vick, Matt Schaub, and Aaron Rodgers in five of six games, skewing the numbers. Still, this defense has become a dream matchup in fantasy circles.

I remember during the offseason how we thought Shanahan was an idiot for taking one of the best 4-3 defenses and switching it to the 3-4 but I didn't realize it was going to be this bad. You think they'd try to slowly transition to the 3-4, like playing in it only in nickel situations or something that doesn't result in alienating your best players in the front 7.

I just thank god we have a coach that uses our players to the best of their abilities instead of forcing them into a scheme that doesn't fit them.

Their defense is actually similar to ours, they give up a ton of yards but they don't give up a lot of TDs and they force turnovers. In the prior years the lack of turnovers had been a major problem for the Redskins, they'd be ranked high in defensive power rankings due to their yards allowed, but they'd be in the bottom for turnovers. They still need more 3-4 personnel because right now they are running the 3-4 with a 4-3 defense but I like the direction they are going in.

They also have one of the most underrated defensive players in Carlos Rogers, if he ever can start catching balls he'll be a top CB in the league.

And that is exactly what Gregg Williams has in his favor. He likes the 3-4 but realized that you work with the personnel you have, which was unsuited to the 3-4. So he adapted. And what a difference that made last year. This year, the defense has improved. He's able to introduce the 3-4 slowly, and it's working.

Can I coach a heckava defense or what?

I agree with this, but I'm still glad we have Williams running the defense instead of Haslett.

That above would be the reason.

He is such a fool. On every level, everywhere he has been, his defenses are totally clueless, undisciplined, and display a horrible football IQ.

I'm not sure why this guy still has a job anywhere in football.

I wouldn't want him as a ballboy on our team.

Here's to hoping he becomes defensive coordinator of the Cowboys next year. That would be histerical.

3rd round draft pick for jamal brown here we come.

Let's swing for the fences and recommend him for the head coaching position in Dallas.

As far as defensive coordinator, anyone seen Rick Venturi lately...

Welcome to town, Jim Haslett.

funny because i thought what they did on defense was very creative. i guess i never watched them closely enough. but they did do a good job of manning up to the cowboy's so call big play receivers.
