Never thought I’d see the day where the Cardinals, Lions, Commanders, and Falcons are your NFC division leaders at midseason (38 Viewers)

All those teams was in rebuild mode. Now they’re finally getting it done.
That is the road we are looking at unless we strike gold like we did with Brees and Payton which would be akin to winning the lotto twice. We are looking at a long 5 year rebuild or maybe even longer.

I don’t think it will be that long.
Even the Saints bounced back in 00 the season after Ditka was fired.
And that was Hasslett.

If the Saints can come really close to the 2017 draft, it could be shorter. If they come close to the 2018 draft, it could take forever.

Hopefully it won't and I probably gave it a longer timeline than it will truly take. A lot depends on how many mistakes are made vs hits in the draft and how quickly the cap can be cleared. The biggest thing is keeping that cap clean and don't overspend on old players rather than sign our own developed talent. I hope you are correct because I am not getting any younger :ROFLMAO:

Very true, we have to be on point in our drafting and I think the trading up needs to stop. We need to gather capital and let the draft fall to us. we are off to a good start with the Lattimore trade, that a good haul. This draft is super important especially with a new coach, whoever that may be. I agree with you 100 percent.

A couple/few years ago these teams were some of the worst-run in the NFL, putting aside Cleveland.

It just goes to show how if you get a good GM and a good coach, things can turn around quickly.

What is sad is that both Terry Fontenot and Dan Campbell were on Airline Drive. But the Saints continued to roll with the Mickey and Dennis show even after the obvious difference maker at the top left.

There's not too much "product quality" in the NFL these days, hence the current batch of division leaders. We're seeing more injuries happen as a result of attempts to prevent injuries, interestingly. (fewer offseason practices, less contact, can't hit the QB too hard, etc.) That's what the billionaire owners want, however. In the current era of pro football, my fandom for the Saints is out of sheer civic pride, little else.

'Tis nice to see Daniels and company have success in Washington right now, though. They're surpassing the Iggles and Cowgirls and that in itself is nice to watch.

I’m most intrigued by OC Kingsbury in Washington. He’s a big reason that Daniels is playing so well. Maybe it’s time for him to get another chance at a HC job.

They went from 3-13 to winning the division and the franchise's 1st playoff win in one season. And that was a different NFL than it is today. There are no dominant teams anymore with the exception of KC and even they don't look unbeatable. You don't have to be the greatest team ever constructed to win in this league anymore.
