I'm considering getting a new grill/smoker with my "stimulus" check.

Anybody have an experience with Blaz'n Grill Works?

I'd prefer to get American-made, if possible.

Thanks

Keeping an eye on this thread because I'm going to be shopping soon, too. I think I'm leaning towards a small electric smoker (big enough for a single turkey) and a 22" kettle grill, though. I'll incorporate it all into an outdoor kitchen eventually.

Take a look at the Masterbuilt 560 Gravity grill
I been researching and the reviews are all great. It uses charcoal but still gets set by digital controls and has bluetooth. Gets up to 700 degrees in 13 minutes for searing steaks and goes low enough to smoke...just put the wanted wood in with the charcoal in the gravity hopper

Many of Weber's grills are Made in the USA. The Genesis and Genesis II series are assembled in the US, though it has some foreign sourced parts. The Summit Series is almost completely made in the US. Both are well made grills that should last a long time if cared for, in my opinion. Just avoid the Spirit series. It's cheap Chinese junk.

Then there is the SmokeFire series. It is also made in the US and is Weber's first pellet fueled grill. They also made a steel Komodo style grill called the Summit Charcoal. I'm particularly interested in buying one of these. Most of their old school kettles, like the Performer, are also made in the US.

I currently own a Summit and a Performer. I've owned them since 2008 and they are both still in excellent condition. Eventually I plan to move them out to the property we're planning to get near Breckenridge. Then I'll be buying a SmokeFire.

I don't know Blaz'n Grill Works at all. The Blaz'n 1 looks very interesting.

I saw this one at Walmart the other day. Interesting concept. Basically takes the best of the charcoal world and throws some digital smarts into it. Like combining a grill/smoker with one of the digital controllers. Even though I have a Big Green Egg, I've been thinking about getting something different like this.

Havent gone thru all the pages but the reviews are great and i have only seen one post that said the digital temperature doesnt work so I would imagine it was just a single faulty unit. Plus it has built in temp probes

We‘ve had a couple of threads about this over the last year or so, but yes, i had a Genesis II and i cant rave enough about it.. You can obviously spend a lot more and get a Green Egg or whatever, but my Genises II cost i think $700 or $800 all in (5 or 6 yrs ago) and it was amazing.. Sold it when I sold my house in Lakeview, and to say that i miss it, especially now in this time of pandemic, would be a massive understatement.

I love my Traeger (except cleaning it) and find it mostly superior to the BGE that my friends own (esp considering the $)...but not so sure much of it is American made/assembled anymore, think they outsourced everything to China.

What about Louisiana Grills ? I have read they are quite good?

Yup, and I'm not one to speak bad of the Green Egg either. I've seriously considered them in the past and may still buy one. The only real challenge for them is their weight and the potential to break them if dropped. However, IMO these aren't really big deals. A large hail storm may pose a bigger risk.

What is happening here? Electric smokers? Pellet smokers?

My brother acts like I’m a ***** for using a propane grill..he claims you‘re not a ‘real man’[tm] unless you use charcoal.

By that logic , i tell him, if that’s the case- then you cant go buy your meat at Kroger or Costco- you need to go out and slaughter it, drag it home and slice up the carcass yourself before cooking it... He doesnt understand the disconnect, but it makes perfect sense to me.. Leave me alone and let me enjoy my propane.

I have a propane grill, nothing wrong with that. Different tools for different jobs. Propane is for doing quick burgers for the family on a weeknight.

But if you're taking the time to set up a smoker and throw something on for 12-16 hours, why are you going to go with a convenience appliance that takes almost the same amount of work and comes out significantly worse tasting than an actual smoker?

My WSM takes me 10 minutes to set up and maybe 30 minutes of maintenance for a 16-18 hour cook. The offset takes significantly more, but nobody is recommending an offset to OP.

Grilla Grills

I have the Silverbac Pellet Smoker, these things spec out really great and customer service is Grade "A".
