New Jersey turning away non-union utility workers (false report) (1 Viewer)

Their source seems to be one guy and it wouldn't shock me if he had no idea what he was talking about, especially since they then cite another utility company as not having the same alleged experience. Sloppy local news reporting.

If true:

Once again people try to politicize a travesty. Thinks for pointing us to this article. It is time for non-union people to start shouting from the roof tops that we tried but beuracracy or idiocracy (you decide) stalled the relief efforts.

Hopefully the people of New Jersey get to weigh in on whether or not they will wait on union electicians or take the help of people already there!

No, not really.

This is a bogus report and JSHN has already responded to it:

#njsandy Getting bombarded by questions asking, "How come you're not reporting the story about the non-union workers from Alabama getting turned away from Seaside Heights?" Here's why: All media reports that are currently circulating are only going off one source (WAFF.com). Jersey Central Power & Light spokesman Ron Morano told News12 that JCP&L has accepted help from all crews. "We have not turned away any help," he said. "Absolutely not." Please always consider the source!

To keep you informed. News for the people, by the people.

If there's statutes preventing the use of non-union workers, they should be temporarily be suspended by this emergency. Common sense though, so..

Seems the ones politicizing the issue are the rube local reporters in Huntsville who don't know how to fact check or understand you need more than one source to verify a claim.

truly the really disappointing thing thats come to light here isnt union vs non.... its that one hack can put out a faulty, poorly sourced claim out there, and many others will report it without questions... and if they do question, its often AFTER putting out a tweet about the rumors they are hearing.

there are some good journalists for sure, but a lot of bad ones these days. frustrating.

Honestly would not shock me if other union workers were running them off not officials. They get pretty serious on union / non union stuff in those parts. My buddy from Pittsburg said they would stab scab during strikes.

"stabbed in the back" is just an expression

and you can't count impromptu productions of West Side Story on the picket lines that break out as a way to battle boredom

well a UPS worker stabbed a boss here in Tucson during their strike. It happens, but if a state official did expel a non union electrical worker I can't wait for the Chris Christie comment on it.......

Haha. It's almost too bad it isn't true just so we could hear Christie go off on the guy. It would've been epic. :hihi:
