I'm brazilian and green has nothing to do with gangs in sao paulo.

The problem is the stadium they are going to play is the stadium of the soccer team called Corinthians. Their biggest rival is Palmeiras. Green is Palmeira's colors, any corinthians fan will never wear anything green because of it. This is why it is very ironic two green colored teams will play in their stadium.
