After thinking about this whole ordeal long and hard, it is apparent to me that the NFL and portions of the media are pushing and preparing to make radical changes to the NFL as we know it. We've seen glimpses of it with the rule changes and the harsh punishments for hits on the field.

This, was Goodells chance to send a HUGE message to not only teams, but to the media, to the player association, to former players, to the federal government, and to the courts.

Saints got caught plain a simple. Why? By who, and so on we will never know. The NFL will never release the details of the 18k documents and the evidence that they have, if they really have it. You never let a crisis go to waste. This was an opportunity to take something that could have been handled discretly between the league, Benson, and coaches, but turn it into International front page news. The fact that it was the Saints was only coincidence. The conspiracy theorist would say it is because we are a small market team with a small footprint, but I doubt that. I just think we popped up on their radar at the wrong time.

It's unfortunete, but we will have to overcome.

Guys like Jeff Duncan, in the strive to make names for themselves will point his little finger at the club and say "bad bad bad" ....the reality is he has watched the same games we have. Enjoyed the brutality of it just like we all have. But that is about to change dramatically, its been coming for a long time, but I think it is here.

We are about to see a much more family friend, much less violent game of football. Some can argue that this is a good thing. Is it really moral to pay money to gain enjoyment from pain? I dont know, I like it the gladiator sport for what it is. Does it make me bad? I maybe. But it's how it is. But the same arguement was made for things like slavery. Just because its the way it is, doesnt mean we shouldnt strive to change it.

Regardless, Saints got caught in the way of this change, and we recieved the hammer for it.

But we will overcome this.

How do you have less violent football? When you have grown men that size running those speeds you will have massive collisions and sometimes people will get hurt.

Cap bench press to 200 lbs, squats to 250 lbs, each position can weigh no more than some preset weight, like lb can weigh no more than 215 lbs, etc. Anyone who runs too fast will have to wear a weighted jacket to slow them down. "Harrison Bergeron" the NFL.

It's called two hand touch or flag football.

This was all about providing the NFL with a legal defense for concussion litigation. The NFL has to show it did everything in it's power to ensure player safety or be found negligent. While I get that, Goodell doesn't seem to focus our punishment on the crime, but rather accommodating the NFL in a courtroom.

Goodell has said he wants to completely change the culture. Guys like Gregg Williams represent the old culture. Goodell want G rated football.

Remember playing tackle football with no equipment?

That's what's coming. Forget about Nike pads, etc - jersey, shorts, and cleats. No helmets. The game will change and eventually we'll all be playing something like rugby or Aussie Rules but with more downfield passing.
