Saints ranked 12th overall with their lowest scores being 'Head Coach' and 'Cafeteria', both of which have been replaced since the survey was taken.

12 is a solid number especially when the lowest scores were for HC and cafeteria which have both now been replaced. Not a dumpster fire organization after all. At least not according to NFL players.

Edit: Interesting that the team gave DA a B-. I would have expected a lower grade.

and yet DA was still ranked 29 out of 32. Cafeteria 31 out of 32. Interesting enough...every other metric was ranked in top 10 by players! Fix the HC and Cafeteria issues and players ranking of Saints organization will be inside the Top 10, probably around 6-9.

EDIT: Treatment of families at 22 out of 32. Post-game family area ranks 4 out of 32, but organization of "family events" throughout year is ranked 30 of 32. HUGE opportunity there, as it seems the facilities are fine, but the effort is lacking.

Pretty sure players don't have the same level of animosity towards a coach that fans do very often. DA had been with a lot of these players at DC and HC for a long long time. If he wasn't liked and/or respected, I don't think he'd have been handed the reins. Players understand that being a HC is tough and that very few are successful. I'd imagine it's hard to give a person you see every day a bad grade publicly. Especially if you know he's doing his best and you see how hard he works. .

I got to tour the Falcons facilities (I did so wearing Saints gear much to the dissatisfaction of the tour guide and stadium workers). Their grades are well deserved. They have their own locker room, meaning even if the stadium hosts a college championship game or Super Bowl, neither team uses the Falcons locker room. The Atlanta Untied have a locker room then there's 4 other locker rooms for visiting teams to use. They also have a large entertainment and dining area just for families and VIPs.

I hate to say it, but the Falcons are doing all the off the field things right to set themselves up for success. Let's hope the on field product continues to be terrible though.

Fans really don't get how good of an organization this is. Even if players , coaches, people say nice things they say "well they're supposed to say that" it's odd. Anyhow a B- isn't far off from a C and that's the lowest grade any coach got so it would still make him the 4th worst coach

Only Pederson, Stefanski, and Eberflus were rated lower.

It was a more fun report last year, on the heels of Spinning Looms calling DA Chuck Noll.

This time, who cares? New coach, new culture coming.

They also were the first NFL team to quit gouging the crap out of their fans in concessions. The Saints have gone the other direction. I keep hoping they will get the memo but I'm not optimistic - one of the non-negotiable tenets of the Benson era has been maximizing revenue no matter what.

That's likely a necessity for a small market team, no?

I don't think so. Phoenix (basketball) and Utah (hockey) have made a similar move.

Given the large amount of extra cash the Saints have appear to have generated for the Bensons over the decades, I am certain they could afford to drop beer prices from $17 to $8 and still be both competitive and profitable.

The margins on food and booze are gigantic, I get it, but its like going to a restaurant - I don't really mind seeing a bottle that I get for $20 at winn dixie being sold for $45 but when you try to charge me $75 for that bottle, I'm probably not coming back.

Maybe. But I don't have access to their books so I don't really know how their finances work. Then again, I probably wouldn't understand them if I did have access to them.

Treatment of families, organization of family events throughout the year, what do those entail exactly? Is it that the players feel over obligated for event or that the club isn’t doing enough to satisfy them or their families? Like do they want free trips to Disney World, etc.?

No, it's stuff like the post-game family area and daycare during games. Heck I'm not an NFL player and I've worked at places that offered daycare during my working hours (hospital). It also includes stuff like the team hosting events friends and family events for the players' families. In some cities the idea that the team is one big family echoes through ownership. In other places, it's just something management says. And quite honestly, hosting family friendly events should be something teams are running to embrace. That type of culture can't prevent players from getting into trouble but I bet it helps avoid it. Letting your younger players see the veterans and their families, each player seeing how much is riding on their joined commitment, all of that has to help. These aren't some weird excessive perks. It's stuff that makes players feel more welcomed in the building they will spend over 100 hours a week in for 5 months of the year.
