Officer shoots biker in the back -video (1 Viewer)

I don't even see how the biker deserved to be tazered, much less shot. I'd like to hear the cop's explanation.

That's very disturbing.

Only thing I can think is that there's the remote possibility that when the driver of the bike turned around it looked like he had a gun (or something) in his hand. I'm not saying this is the case but that's the only possible explanation I can think of for the officer opening fire.

And to tell the guy to put his hands up? You just shot him in the back you jack hole...how the hell is he supposed to put his hands up? On 2nd thought another possible explanation is that the officer is a complete ******* idiot.

Summary of the defense of the cop from the "police can do no wrong" crowd on here.

When you're protecting the public, you only have a split second to make life and death decisions. Cops are trained to make these decisions. No policeman ever wants to shoot/beat/run over/harass anyone. Bikers/pedestrians/protesters/skateboarders/people who look suspicious are scum, and they're the real criminals for not putting both hands up as soon as the cop says to/running a red light/looking suspicious/talking back to the cop. So it's their own fault when a saintly, well-intentioned, virtuous officer of the law is forced to make the difficult decision to use lethal force.

String him up. He had enough training to make shooting that guy completely avoidable. Sometimes mistakes that are unavoidable happen, sometimes a suspect contributes to a situation in which a mistake was made. This was not one of those times. You can either have police forces armed with guns which are by and large safe for the general public to be around or you can have guys like this who go rogue and abandon their training to treat their jurisdictions like war zones and their clients like enemies. You cant have both.

I think the cop should be strung up for what he did and that you should get a citation for erectng a strawman without proper permits. You should have to clean up the mess made when somebody knocks the strawman down too.

Yeah, well, you wait til certain posters chime in on this thread. There's going to be someone who'll make more or less the defense of the cop that I just constructed.

Thats the thing though. No matter how good your points are or how bad you suspect theirs might be, they still have to actually make their points before you can swoop down and destroy them. Its just not the same thing when you make a point, swear upon all that is holy that the point you made is going to be theirs, and then destroy the point which you made. Theres no real glory in that. Its just not cricket and it doesnt really present both sides of an issue. Your prediction of what they will say in the future might be correct. But it might not be too. You gotta wait until there's a real deer to shoot before you can have real venison.

The dude turned his head and got shot. Officer must've thought the guy was Cyclops and would destroy him with his laser vision.

The officer will be convicted and he and the city will lose the inevitable civil suit.

I've been pulled over many times, never has a police officer approached the vehicle with his weapon drawn.

This was a routine traffic stop, there was no immediate danger to anyone. He should have taken a moment in his car to let his adrenaline rush slow down, run a license plate or something.

Imagine the story that would have been told if there were no dash board camera ...

Wow.....ridiculous. The fact that the worst the officer can get in prison time is 8 years is mind boggling to me.
