It's been said a lot about the Saints and usually as a pejorative. What does it mean, though?

It means the Saints' median age as a team is 27.

Who is the youngest team in the NFL? The Packers. Their age? 25.

That stat sounds far less alarming when you examine the actual numbers.

I've wondered about that some too. For us old farts, 25 vs 27 as a mean sounds trivial. But if we are talking, roughly, about a 22 to 37 age range, just a few being younger or older, then that's 15 years. Two years of age difference would be 13% of that range. To me 13% isn't a tremendous difference, but it's not trivial either.

It's the stupidest stat out there , it does not take into affect older players that don't start. And it you have a vet QB that is 30 or so it messes up the avg. Also lineman can play well into their early 30's . It's a dumb stat
