On this day, the greatest Super Bowl collapse happened! 28-3! [Merged] (1 Viewer)

I’ll never forget that day.

We had people over to watch the game and I’d just wanted to puke at the thought of the Falcons winning the Super Bowl but also essentially dominating the Brady led Patriots.

What was more remarkable to me than the comeback itself was the speed with which that game turned.

I left the room at 28-3 right after Julio made that improbable sideline catch that (in my mind) iced the game and would be the image we’d see for decades.

I went to my son’s room and read him a bedtime story and sat in his room as he settled down for sleep. It didn’t take very long but by the time I came back to the living area - my wife and friends had a look of disbelief on their faces.

Such a strange game.

Like so many comebacks of that magnitude -literally any one single play goes different or a single mistake is made by the Pats - they lose 10/10.

Such an improbable game.

A quick reminder for those excited about the Shanahan tree and the hire of Kubiak, Shanahan's offense was shut out for the final 21:29 of that Super Bowl. Even just splitting the TOP with New England would have secured a Super Bowl Championship for them, but they lost TOP 40:31 to 23:27. They were also 1-8 on 3rd down. Shanahan's offense was at least partially responsible for the biggest choke jobs in Super Bowl history. Let's hope he repeats it this Sunday.

I'll never forget that SB....went to a friend's place (big sports nut, absolute encyclopedia) in Arlington. Great party, great food and company but we had to go to work the next day so we left when it was 28-3.....figuring it was over, listened to music on the way home.....got home in the midst of the Pats comeback and watched them pull ahead and win....it was glorious!!!!

I watched at a tiny bar by myself (one of maybe 10 people in the place, including the staff) and somehow there was a Falcons fan there for all of us to playfully pick on. My friends who are Falcons fans never hear the end of it, though
