Is our run defense suddenly very good and should we feel encouraged going into the playoffs that we can score on anyone AND defend the run? I mean the defense has stopped Mike Turner, Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson. It seems as though we're stout on defense, offense, special teams...the only thing seemingly lacking is the scheme to keep the secondary from getting torched and better linebacker play. But the front four seem to be getting the job done. And i understand that is the prevent defense keeping the big play from happening.
I won't talk about the respect issue, but nobody in the media talks about the solid fundamental play of the Saints and the defense when discussing the upcoming games.

This is why getting an early lead helps our D. Hard to run consistently when your down 21.

Sean Rogers is beasting. If we could get solid pressure from our DE's and just decent LBer play, I really can't foresee a game where I'd pick us to lose, home or away.

rushing yards allowed per game...
Packers 103
bears 60
texans 109
jaguars 104
panthers 162
buccaneers 117
colts 155
rams 183
buccaneers 84
falcons 138
bye -
giants 73
lions 87
titans 59
vikings 105
falcons 35

So we have only had 4 really bad games against the run this year. I think if we can hold the opponents to under 100 on average then we will be in Indy come February.

For some odd reason alotta posters wouldnt agree with u. But yeah, Rogers has been doin wut we've asked of him. A combination of McBride n Gallette on obvious passing downs would also b beastly n the playoffs

I'm liking the run defense. I look forward to Junyah having a monster post season.

For me at least the most blaring improvement over the course of the year has been our tackling. I'm amazed at how much better we've gotten at tackling. We've had a bunch of open field tackles the last few games where the first guy either brought him down or stopped him long enough for us to swarm. I wasn't seeing that the first few games and was frustrated by that.....awesome to see they improved that area so much.

I think we're seeing some of our young players starting to come into their own. Johnny Patrick, Ramon Humber, Jo Lon Dunbar, Isa Abdul Qudus and Junior Galette. And some veteran players getting used to our system and tempo like Shaun Rogers, Abrayo Franklin, Thompson. We're starting to jell at the right time. Only problem is consistency.

Our consistency is definitely tightening up though.

I see the same about our tackling. Doesn't seem like alot gets past them now. And they do swarm to the ball.

Our D has been improving and getting the job done. Our pass rush frustrates me, but we've done well against the run since the bye and we are pretty stout when teams get into the red zone.

we have the no. 10 run defense (and no. 30 pass defense in front of Green Bay and New England) six teams with top 10 defenses may not even make the playoffs. Offense wins championships these days
