Just a heads up, we are working on our evaluations of safeties in this years draft and they have some really good ones this year. The safety market in this year's draft is a lot better than it has been in recent years. There are some that can be multi-role players on a defense.

Well here is our top 10 list of Safeties in this years draft. I know some you may not like the rankings and some of you will. I hope you guys enjoy it. We will be putting out the analysis on each player soon.

#1- Nick Emmanwori- (S) South Carolina (6'3"/227#)
#2- Malaki Starks- (S) Georgia (6'1"/205#)
#3- Xavier Watts- (S) Notre Dame (6'0"/203#)
#4- Andrew Mukuba- (S) Texas (6'0"/190)
#5- Kevin Winston Jr.- (S) Penn State (6'2"/205#)
#6- Lathan Ransom- (S) Ohio State (6'1"/211#)
#7- Sebastian Castro- (S) Iowa (5'11"/205#)
#8- Malachi Moore- (S) Alabama (6'0"/196#)
#9- Sonny Styles- (S) Ohio State (6'4"/235#)
#10- Xavier Nwankpa- (S) Iowa (6'2"/215#)

I'll update this post later with our sleeper picks.
We did some re-evaluations and reshuffled players on the list.

These players are our sleeper picks.
1- Robert Spears-Jennings- Oklahoma (6'1"/219#)
2- Hunter Wohler- Wisconsin (6'2"/218#)

Hey, if you guys have some favorites that you think would make an impact on the Saints and want us to look at just list them and we'll see what we can come up with.

De'Rickey Wright, S, Vandy, 6'4" 210lbs, 5th Yr Senior, 48 games played. Experienced in the SEC and he has size. Enough of these small Safeties.
Xavier Nwankpu, S, Iowa, 6'2" 215bls, 3 years at Iowa, 39 games played. Played at Iowa.

Those are a couple bigger/late round guys. I doubt they are in your top 10.

Malaki Starks

6’1”, 205#
Malaki Starks is a highly athletic and instinctive safety prospect from Georgia, standing at 6'1" and weighing 205 pounds. A consensus All-American with a strong track record in one of the nation's top defenses, Starks is widely regarded as one of the top safeties in the 2025 NFL Draft. His blend of speed, physicality, and football intelligence makes him a versatile asset capable of impacting the game in multiple ways.

I really like South Carolina's safety Nick Emmanwori (6'3/227#) you can use him as a hybrid Safety/Linebacker. He has a 4.38/40 time, that is in the elite speed for a safety his size. He is predicted as a multi-role safety. I'm in agreement with you enough of these small safeties.

Yeah, I figured he'd be near the top for your rankings so I didn't list him. He's probably #1 for me due to his size/speed and physicality. These days of getting bullied have to stop.

Yeah we need big safeties that can be that enforcer in the secondary and that can cover and play run defense.

The bulling stops & starts with your DL & LB...
I played CB & S from pop-warner through high school. It sucks when someone especially like Derrick Henry continually gets through fist 2 layers of the D untouched & you are trying to stop a run away Diesel Train!

I hated playing against Reggie Reginelli, it was like trying to tackle a wild bull by yourself!

Oh, I know. I played CB, S, WR (Jr High/HS) to LB (Military Base tackle teams in Japan/semi-pro-ish) to DL and OL (Base tackle teams in Japan/semi-pro-ish at 31 y/o) as I got bigger and stronger through the years. It was fun being faster at 230lbs than I was at 169lbs and beating our skill position players in 40s as a LG, lol.

Anyway, yeah, most of the bullying taking place has been to our O and D line/LBs, but and a lot of it in the secondary was Mathieu making business decisions and getting run over. Taylor for most of the season was rate the most disruptive player in the league b/c he brings it. Umade brings physicality as well. But, we have some big/strong RBs in the NFC South and throughout the league so we have to be able to stop those guys. I'd love to have a big/fast safety as an enforcer out there to set the tone and clean up if needed.

You & I have a some of the same experience except on O I played RB, PR, & KR. I blew my right knee our returning a KO when I was almost 20 years old.
Faked out the last player & I had nothing but green grass in front of me... It was the 2nd half KO... It was going to be my first KR TD of the season...
My base commander was working on getting me into the U. of Arkansas when this happened...
Which would have been great because on of my HS teammates played CB for them.
In the mid 1980's an ACL ruputure, PCL tear, Patella damage, & cartilage damage was the end of any career...
Life & its curveballs...

I absolutely agree with you about TM...
He isn't worth the money we paid him this year & I would love to have a big, fast, hard hitting S on our D.

Yeah, I twisted and snapped my lower right leg back on May 9, 2009 (31 y/o) while playing for Yokota's base team at Misawa AB. I posted about it back then. It was a cheap shot late hit that left me with a spiral fracture of the fibula that was about 5' of jagged bone and a chunk of bone ripped off the bottom of my tibia. I did make a full recovery, but it wasn't fast.

Ouch!

I did it all to myself... with the help of the grass field.
When I planted, there wasn't any give by the grass field.
My knee took all of the pressure...

I laugh when people start arguing about grass vs turf surfaces... & injuries!
especially with today's turf fields.
