The Carolina Panthers lost a handful of key defenders this offseason after reaching the Super Bowl in February. The biggest name was Josh Norman, of course, but another piece of the secondary went to a division rival – and his former team – in free agency.

Roman Harper signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints back in June, bringing him back to the team that he spent the first eight years of his career with. The Panthers were forced to adjust their secondary accordingly, but that’s not the only change they made.

Head coach Ron Rivera addressed another adjustment Carolina will make now that one of their best defenders plays for a division rival.

“He’s now in New Orleans and I promise they probably put the spotlight on him with the rubber hose to get as much information as they can,” Rivera said via the Charlotte Observer. “He’s a smart guy, so we’ve had to do it on offense and defense. We’ve had to keep that in mind and we had to change a lot of things we had used in the past.”

That is too funny hopefully it sets Scam Newton back several weeks

This just tells me that they were able to get a lot of intel from Harper on the Saints when he signed with the Panthers. They are well aware of the amount of info Harper can divulge apparently. We've had 1 win out of 4 while Harper was with the Panthers.

I would imagine that this is a common practice especially within division rivals..??

While I can appreciate and respect what Rivera has been able to do with that team, there is just something about his demeanor that irritates me.

Maybe I'm used to Sean's constant professionalism, but this guy hardly ever has a bit of humility in his voice.

That team is gonna fall hard when the balls don't bounce their way this season.

Having the 31st and 32nd ranked defensed had a heckuva lot more to do with going 1-3 against the Panthers the last 2 seasons.

Yea didn't the Colts sign Mile McKenzie for a day before our Superbowl matchup in 09? I remember that being so blatantly obvious it wasn't even funny.

"survey the field - hesitate because so many variables - use freakish athletic ability to avoid sack - run around some more - throw ball 10 ft over your tall receiver's head"

does that really need fancy code?

Happens all the time....

Got a link for that? I know we signed him earlier in the year I think for the New England game, but I don't recall anything about the Colts signing him right before the Super Bowl. I don't even think that's allowed.

Edit: After a quick search, it looks like they worked him out but nothing came of it. I doubt any info was provided.

The camthers whole persona is based on feeling insulted all the time. Riverboat runt is just playing the he's stabbing us in the back card. You'll hear about it again when we play them.
Pretty lame actually......
