Allen was fired on 4 November; Lattimore was traded the next day for a 3rd and 4th plus a future pick. There’s pretty much a consensus that DA was good to elite at coaching defensive backs and disagreement about his level of excellence as a defensive coordinator. The trade immediately after his firing suggests to me a further repudiation of him as a coach by trading away his best defensive back. FWIW, I agree with doing the trade and am satisfied with the result. And then, Lattimore was mediocre at best and got roasted by Mike Evans. Maybe it was the injury, but the results speak for themselves.

Now, we’re all angry that Baun and Hendrickson were let go, not to mention Kaden Elliss. DA bears some, if not all, of the responsibility for these decisions, all of whom are front seven players.

What I’m getting at (finally) is that the only good thing DA did was to evaluate and coach defensive backs. That was his level of competence. And that would have been fine had he stuck to doing that. Defensive Coordinator was his level of incompetence. Between the late game defensive meltdowns and the bad personnel decisions, he was not an elite DC in my view.

So, let’s hope that Kellen Moore can make the jump from OC to HC and that he hasn’t peaked as a coach. Almost 90 points of offense in the NFCCG and Superbowl seems elite to me, and suggests a favorable transition from OC to HC.

The team just needs to hit a home run with this and next years draft. That would go a long way in turning the team around. In addition IMO they also need to fix the cap issues over the next two years! I sure hope they can do both and that Moore turns out to be the next SP!

We'll see, but he's not bringing any of the roster or front office.

The biggest plus for him is that he’s been around success in both college(50-3 record as a starter) and the pros. He knows what it looks like. It’s good to hear that he can adapt his system to fit his players. That said, he is young/inexperienced and taking over a bad situation so I expect a bumpy ride, but the upside with him seems a lot higher than it was with DA or Rizzi. Looking forward to it.
