Seeing that Dolphins linemen steal that screen pass had me thinking. Would it work if a team lined up an extra lineman that reports as eligible and then run a RB screen and have the eligible lineman acting like he's going to block with the others but then catch the ball instead and hopefully gain enough for the short yardage gain for a 1st down or TD. Could even have the RB go wide during the play to draw more attention away form the eligible lineman mixed in with the blocking lineman.

In theory that might be a valuable option.

Question is how many times you can run that play until the opposing D realizes that „extra lineman“.

And second thought goes to the hands of that lineman. Even a short pass has to be caught.
And for my taste we had enough dropped balls

Probably a once in a season play to throw the defense off. But could help get a crucial TD or game sealing 1st down

Well the element of surprise is what helped the Saints win a Super Bowl. Why not? I say use everything in your arsenal and think outside of the box. Be bold, courageous and take the enemy by storm!!
