After working in the Special Victims Unit (Sex Crime) for five years I had to make some changes. I tested for Sgt. and was selected on October 1st. I'm now running a squad out on the streets. Dealing with the stress in that unit it was starting to take a toll on me mentally and physically. Almost overnight everything has turned around and I love being back on the street. The wife has noticed the turnaround and even though she doesn't like me being back on the streets she is happy. Not to mention the Saints are kicking @@@ this year.

Congrats to you man. Burnout is real, and sometimes it's hard to notice until you get out of it.

I can imagine that the things you've had to see day in and day out in the previous unit would eventually take a toll on you (or any person) - especially when kids are involved. Thankful there are folks like you out there willing to do the work.

Be careful on the streets!
