Like you said though, this is going to be the DA and DC show for at least one more year and probably two.

Giving this a bump. He looks far better than he did this time last year especially with Rattler on the roster, Dart and other scramblers in this draft.

Any reason we’re not looking into him? Seems kinda silly to not even interview him

He’ll be 59 next year with no HC experience, and plenty have said McCarthy is too old at 61 with plenty of experience. I’ve said elsewhere that teams either want a young maverick or an experienced program builder, Monken unforunately doesn’t fit either bucket.

I’m pretty sure Monken would be the oldest first time coach since Rod Marinelli in 2006 (he was 57). Marinelli had successful defenses with two teams before becoming a HC, but he likely ended up being most famous for the 0-16 season he had as HC of the Lions. Also, his defenses were terrible when he was a HC, so that past success with different rosters didn’t travel with him.

He was the head coach at Southern Miss. He is a very good OC with a good bit of NFL experience.
I think that would translate very well here.

He's my first choice for head coach, but it seems the Saints front office doesn't see it that way.

I believe McCarthy will be hired by the middle of the week.

Went from 0-12 to 9-5 and won their division. That’s a fast turnaround. Especially for little USM.

A touch short sighted. Look at the draft. A handful of QB's that play that exact style or close to. Sanders, Milroe and Dart just to name a few. Dart has also been flying up draft boards. He may end up being this years "Bo Nix or Penix Jr" (not in performance but in surprise high selection).
