Reel mowers? (1 Viewer)

Funny, I saw this about an hour ago on eBay. It's a great deal at 5.99, but the guy's not offering shipping. It's in Temecula, CA. Maybe you could talk him in to shipping it out, I don't know.

I'm always checking my city on eBay to see if I can land a good deal now and then. I once purchased an antique German Hutch for 20 bucks and he even delivered the item. The best deals are usually local where they don't want to bother with shipping.

Heck, I guess you could always come and get it.

My old neighbor use to have one. He was very environmentally friendly in everything he did. He and his wife divorced and they moved. I use to horrify him when I would come out with my various containers of chemicals that killed plants, insects, etc. that I didn't want. He really liked his mower, FWIW.

You can usually get one for about $100 at Home Depot, Lowe's or Sears. Get it sharpened by someone who knows what they're doing every spring and keep it dry and well-oiled and it's great. Don't and it's a huge pain.

I have one.
I use it for some small lawns - it works very well and I like the cut it makes. But I know that if you have a lot of weeds it might have some trouble cutting them - even with well sharpened blades. It cuts grass great.

scan Craigslist as well. Great deals can be found if you check it frequently.

I wanted a new Rhododendrun plant for my yard and today I found one that a guy dug up and he paid ME $20.00 to come and get it.

A friend of mine had one. It was kinda fun to use actually.
If I ever have a small yard I would definitely get one.

Relatively quiet, no bad park plugs, no cranking, never having to go get gas/oil...
