We all know it’s early and a lot can still happen, blah blah blah. I can’t help but think that the decision to invest in these players on this team in lieu of tanking and starting over is now paying off in spades. Seems like the Saints front office that was much maligned in the off season for holding this team together and trusting their process deserves their flowers.

I never understood the notion that we should tank. Keeping your team average always leaves you a couple of lucky acquisitions and/or bounces away from greatness in this league, and we are seeing that manifested now.

I think people/the media were just bored with the team and desperate to see something drastic. We were always much closer to being a good team than being a top 5 draft pick type team.

Seeing this team out physical their opponents and knowing that’s the direction this team wanted to go with their defensive minded head coach, it makes sense with hindsight. You can’t just go soft for a season. You have to be physical and compete if that’s your team identity.

They went out and found an offensive coordinator who matches and compliments the defense. This team is cohesive and they play a brand of football.

No team wants to play the Saints right now. They’ve earned that by sticking to the plan even when the fanbase was booing and raising money for billboards.

We collectively owe this organization an apology. But regardless of all that, the needle is pointing up now and ticket prices are taking off. Saints fans are in for a treat because this team is TOUGH and they are FOR REAL

Is getting their flowers or deserving their flowers some new slang? I’ve been seeing it everywhere….yes I’m old…

I noticed that too. Especially in reference to the Saints this week. Like every podcast is using that phrase…and I don’t remember it…definitely not at this frequency in the past.

I don’t like these new phrases that nobody used to use and now everyone uses them. If you know you know.

The Vikings never tank either. It CAN work but the Vikes also never won a SB.

It's not particularly new but us old people have finally started using it. It simply means giving someone their due recognition for a job well done, like the flowers you give to an Olympic medalist. I like the phrase even if it's getting overused.

I greatly underestimated how bad Carmichael was last year. I mean…I knew he was bad, but I didn’t know that he was bottom ten to top ten bad.

Tanking is shortsighted and picking early is overrated. Cleveland “wins the draft” every year with a million picks and picking high, but they’re consistently bad. I’ll take 7-9 over 3-13 every single time.

I couldn't agree more. I have no idea why tanking is attractive to anyone. The number of teams that make it out of that hole is very small. I want no part of it.

Can't say that I thought we'd immediately see THIS sort of offensive output.. but it was so so obvious after the 2022 season that, on multiple levels, Carmichael didn't have what it takes.

I want to regret us wasting 2023 with him still here but.. can't change it and probably had to happen like that for us to end up with Kubiak.
