Just like how I felt that this past game @ Carolina was playing out the same way as the @ Patriots game, I also feel another sense of dejavu.

This season is starting to remind me of the 2002 season with that famous Dante Culpeppper fumbling and scoring on that 4th and goal play in the dome when they went for the win instead of the tie. We started out 7-2 that year and it all came crashing down. I traveled to New Orleans for that game and me and my brother were so excited about our team that year and thought we had a chance for the Super Bowl. When we got to New Orleans though none of the locals gave the team a chance to make the playoffs. They were still called the "Aint's" then amongst locals.

Well I see the stars aligning not in favor again this year. I think the Cardinals are going to EARN that final playoff spot. Even the Falcons blew their chance to beat the 49ers on Monday Night when it was in their grasp. Now the 49ers can rest starters @ Arizona.

No other team has had more success against us in the dome than the Bucs. You know Schiano is going to have his team ready to play and our boys are going to play nervous.

If we lose there could be an overhaul of our roster in the offseason. Payton is already making changes and discussing the future RB situation. If we choke and miss the playoffs, not only will we go down in NFL history as one of the biggest meltdowns it could cause some big moves. I think Ingram and Sproles are gone, Pierre will have to take a paycut in order to continue his career with the Saints. Colston might have to restructure, Lance Moore gone, Jimmy Graham will get the franchise tag and New England will attempt to swoop him up for two low end 1st round draft picks. The defense will get another overhaul in the offseason and Brees will want the offensive line addressed without restructuring his contract.

We could be looking at a run of mediocre seasons and drafting a QB to replace Brees in a couple of years just like Green Bay did with Favre and Rodgers.

Things could get real concerning and ugly should the Saints choke on Sunday. Also Payton better watch how coaches to because he could wind up going down as a Mike Martz and not a Bill Bellichick. Remember once the Rams lost their offensive line and could no longer protect their QB, Martz was stubborn with the pass and got his QB's killed everywhere he coached the offense.

I hope and pray the Saints win on Sunday and we get some help from Atlanta cause I would hate to see a major roster shakeup especially with us not having cap space.

Were the 2002 Saints undefeated at home going into that game? We're going to blow them out. Remember this post should we make the playoffs lol.

And what are you going to do when the Saints win Sunday?

Keep your doom and gloom off the board for awhile?

I don't see any situation in which Ingram gets cut, PT maybe. Gonna be a ton of restructures IMO. Also I don't see how Cards beat Whiners which guarantees us a spot.

They will make the playoffs but what matters if if they win their division that's all!

:cheer: YAY! :cheer:

I. Love. This. Thread.

49ers can still win division.

I'll remember this thread when the Saints make the playoffs.

WHO DAT!!

That is irrelevant to the Saints because the best we can reach is 11-5, while the 49ers can get to 12-4, which means we could not end up in a tiebreaker with them, provided we win the division.

I think his point was that the 49ers will not rest their starters like the OP said because they are still playing for a chance at the division. As far as this thread......I already forgot what it was about.

Just trying to state the implications of this weekend. Lucky for us the Seahawks, 49ers and Saints all play afternoon games. Should Carolina beat the Falcons in the morning the pressure could be on. The Cards are no joke especially at home. I think they beat the 49ers.

Brees is feeling the heat this season with his play. We lucked out and won a couple of games this year and let some games slip thru our hands. Our losses this season weren't team losses except for the Seahawks game. We were out coached in our losses and Brees had been the turnover machine for us this year. We need to make the playoffs this year even if we lose on the road in the first round just so we can have something to build upon next year. 9-2 to missing the playoffs is a serious failure that will have implications beyond this season. The Lions are in the same position and they have already been eliminated. People will have to answer for the Lions missing the playoffs in the same year that Cutler and Rodgers were injured for a good portion of the year.

This is not your typical week 17, where select teams have their seeds sewed up and can rest their starters. The field is essentially wide open as far as seeding is concerned. The fact still remains that the Saints have to handle their business or it's all for not. I think we win and I think a p**sed off Atlanta team takes the Panthers at home just to make a statement. I think we'll be OK.

I'm so mad at you for not pm'ing me today to save a green thumb for this post.

I would red thumb you for that, but I can't.

Anyway, today you win the internet. :ezbill:
