NFL Rumors X account: Davante Adams not in contact with Jets, interested in Saints (72 Viewers)

Admittedly I don’t know if I trust this account, but figure it is worth posting if only for discussion purposes.

Yep. Questionable speculation. Like you, not sure how trustworthy these guys are. No one even knows the fate of Carr at this point in time, so I don't know how anyone could speculate on anything surrounding him.

But, nice find nonetheless. :)

Yawn if true.

I doubt this account has their own sources though.

Meh...well more like why? Too many uncertainty with this team from top to bottom.
That was my initial reaction too. It's not that we couldn't use him because whilst he doesn't appear to be what he was he would still be the best receiver Olave and Shaheed have played with since CGM was hurt by the time they got here. It's not that I necessarily think he's completely washed because he just went from one bad offensive situation to another last season. It's just that it doesn't really make sense to me to invest money in a veteran receiver given the state of the rest of the roster. On paper the Saints aren't likely to turn things around over one off-season. We're going to have a whole new offensive and defensive staff, likely a scheme change on both sides as well. Plus a different leader and overall philosophy with what almost certainly will be a rookie Head Coach. It just doesn't seem like something that makes sense for where this team is right now.

He should be taking the D-Hop route at this point and get with a legitimate contender and have a chance at a ring instead of chasing his friends around. We do say we need a true WR1, but we need a lot of things and those solutions need to be more long term than not.

The Jets people speculate that if Rodgers stays (along with a drafted QB), Adams probably stays and redoes his contract. They estimate his new AAV would be $18M.

But if the Jets release him (as expected) and he becomes a free agent, how much would anyone be willing to offer him?

Seems too expensive and doesn't fit a youth movement. Now, if Kellen comes in and says we're going full Carr in 2025 then maybe Adams could get a sniff. But he'll have better offers everywhere else.

If he wants to play with Carr, have him stay in New York and play for the giants with him. I am fine with errors being made by young guys improving and building under a new coach. I’m not tolerant of the same old same old guys past their prime not getting the job done and injured
