The Saints had an outstanding draft class in 2017, with all seven players they drafted starting in the NFL five years later. But most of those players are no longer in New Orleans.

As noted by Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune, the Saints’ entire 2017 draft class started in Week One.

Cool bit of info! The only one I miss is Trey, we would have been a nightmare for the opposition had we been able to hold on to him.

Our draft ammo that year was quite top-heavy, but by any measurement that class is pretty darn impressive. Having three of those guys (probably the best 3) locked up long-term is also a great accomplishment. All three of them (Lattimore, Ramcyzk, Kamara) will probably go down as 1st-team Saints All-Timers.

Trey was the signing to make from those departures, he has a knack for getting around the edge that we are lacking.

That has to be incredibly rare - not just 2017, but how many draft classes for any team from any year are NFL starters 5 years later?

Give it another week or two before saying we lack it. We sure had it last season.

Last week was an outlier. ATL's scheme significantly impacted our approach.

Best draft class in Saints history, even better than 2006.

2017 : had 11th pick overall Lattimore, Ramczyk, Williams, Kamara, Hendrickson, Anzalone, Muhammad (this also includes trading away Brandin Cooks and a future 2nd for Kamara.)

Lattimore, Ramczyk, Kamara, Hendrickson are all pro bowlers, the first three have hall of fame potential. Williams could be a pro bowl player and is a good starter. Anzalone starts in Detroit and Muhammad has staid on rosters as defensive line depth.

2006: had 2nd pick overall Bush, Harper (Jeff Faine in trade included with Harper), Evans (includes Hollis Thomas in trade), Ninkovich, (misses in Mike Hass and Josh Lay) Strief, Colston for the best 7th round of any team ever

Evans has a shot at the hall of fame in 2006, you got Colston who should have been a multi probowler but notably never made it. Bush was good but not great given his hype, Ninkovich and Strief were both long time starters.

And don’t forget Hicks and Woods (who was a beast last night). I know that you can’t keep them all but I would like to have more compensatory picks to show for them.

Don't forget the 1981 draft!

Well, guess how many sacks Hendrickson had in Week 1?

Seriously, RPO offenses are an entirely different beast. Starting this weekend we'll be able to settle into what we do best.

You can only afford to pay 3 stars from a draft class.

This is why overloading on draft picks is a double edged sword
Yes but you don’t feel that second edge for 3-4 years
